Underclass Showcase Results

At the June Prep Baseball Report Underclassmen Showcase, players converged at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines to display their skills.  Among the solid players present, several players stood out to solidify themselves as top prospects in their respective classes and positions. On the mound, Fremd’s RHP Joe Leaf (pictured right) asserted himself as the top overall prospect at the showcase with good velocity and control of his offspeed pitches.

The 2008 spring season brought a lot of impressive performances. The Prep Baseball Report's 2008 All-State teams highlight the best of the best individual performances. While Highland's Jake Odorizzi earned Player of the Year honors - and all his exploits can be found all over this website -there were many other players who put forth dominating seasons, such as Rock Falls ace Jarred Hippen (pictured right). Updated Class of 2009 Rankings

The updated Class of 2009 Rankings have been released. While many of the more familiar names – Neuqua Valley LHP Ian Krol, Johnsburg LHP Jerad Grundy, and Stevenson RHP Scott Firth – have remained the same, there are many new names and other players who have emerged over the last three months.

No player in the state enjoyed a more meteoric rise than Marmion Academy RHP-OF Matt Milroy (pictured right), who emerged from relative obscurity to become one of the elite prospects in the state. Milroy’s loose 88-91 mph fastball and 81-83 mph slider put him on the map at several June showcases, then he further solidified his status with his hitting prowess and athleticism.

PBR Top Prospect Showcase Results

At the Prep Baseball Report's Top Prospect Showcase, over 120 players from 60 schools across the state came out to highlight their abilities. The event, which took place at the Max-McCook Exposition and Athletic Center, was loaded with a number of standout performers from the 2009 and 2010 classes. Prairie Ridge edges Oak Park to win Class 4A state championship

Highland claims first-ever 3A state title over Rock Falls

It was Danny Gifford, not Jake Odorizzi, who commanded the lighlight in Highland's 6-2 victory over Rock Falls in the Class 3A state championship game Saturday in Joliet. But, of course, Odorizzi did put the final stamp on the Bulldgogs' first state championship.
