Matt Lynch
St. Ignatius HS, RHP, Class of 2010: As one of the top unsigned prospects in the state, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-hander shined at a recent PBR event. With funk in his delivery, Lynch hides the ball exceptionally well, making his 86-88 mph fastball that much more difficult to pick up. He showed good hand acceleration, as his fastball had late life. He also demonstrated feel for a 77-78 mph slider and changeup.

Sean Thomas
Glenbrook North HS, OF/LHP, Class of 2011: A two-way talent, Thomas was one of the top athletes at the event, running a 6.91 60, while also performing well on the mound. The 6-foot, 165-pound Thomas showcased a strong, accurate outfield arm (84 mph), moving with fluidity and purpose. On the mound, he was equally as impressive. The left-hander commanded three pitches for strikes, including an 81 mph fastball and excellent feel for his curve and changeup.

Tyler Farrell
Galesburg HS, RHP, Class of 2011: The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Farrell is a physical athlete with a solid pitcher’s frame. He has a loose, whippy arm, and a quick hand. His fastball topped at 84 mph with late life, while his curveball had two-plane break and late bite. He also featured a change-up with fade.

Evan Nietfeldt
Homewood-Flossmoor HS, RHP, Class of 2011: The 6-foot-4, 175-pound Nietfeldt features a long, athletic frame and a loose, quick arm – which leads us to believe that he has only begun to scratch the surface of his potential. With continued physical development, Nietfeldt’s 84-mph fastball should continue to climb in the coming years. He also showed a solid changeup with arm-side run and feel for a 71-74 mph curveball.
