4A South Regional Tournament

The 4A South Regional, begins Thursday at 10:00 AM at Monticello High School. The first day of games are always very competitive as each team’s season is online the line, in a win or go home scenario before seeding for the state tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The most competitive regional in all classifications. The state champion has come out of this region the last three seasons, this year’s group has the ability to produce another 4A State Champion. Arkadelphia is again the favorite. They were knocked off last year by Star City in the semi-finals. Crossett should be on upset alert with Bauxite throwing 2017 RHP Hunter Geautrax, the junior has given the Miners a chance all spring. I look for Hamburg to advance with 2016 LHP Drake Streeter on the mound over Nashville. The most intriguing matchup will be between defending State Champions Star City Bulldogs and Ashdown. Ashdown is loaded with talent and Star City is banged up, however they will still pitch Arkansas State commit 2016 RHP Blake Wynn, in a one game setting pitching is key.
