By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

As we get closer to the NCAA early signing period players are making their commitments daily. This week alone there has been 3 players make their college decision (Sage White Harding, Brandon Hall Henderson, and Jordan Reed Henderson). Here is a look at 5 uncommitted seniors that are intriguing college prospects.

Chase Kyzer, RHP, Cabot HS
Kyzer is a 6-foot 200-pound right-hander with a large frame and an average build. He has repeatable mechanics with limited drive off of his lower half. His arm action has some deception to it. He pitches from an over-the top arm slot. His fastball was 83-85 mph with late life through the strike zone. His fastball plays with more velocity due to a wipe out slider at 75-76 mph with sharp late break. Overall Kyzer is a solid right-hander with a wipe out slider and a deceptive arm action.

Adam Brown, LHP, Harrison HS
Brown is a 6-foot-5 210-pound left-hander with a large frame and an average build. He works from a H ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action. His mechanics are repeatable with a tall and fall balance point and limited extension. He pounded the strike zone with three pitches. His fastball set 77-80 mph up 81 mph. His curveball was 65-57 mph with some depth thrown with near fastball arm speed. He located a change up at 67-70 mph with slight arm-side run. He did slow his arm down to locate the change up. Overall, Brown projects to get better as he continues to grow into his large frame. The fact that he can throw strikes consistently makes him intriguing as he gains velocity.

Dylan Hurt, C, Bryant HS
Hurt is a  5-foot-10 160-pound catcher with a medium frame and an athletic build. Defensively he is very solid behind the plate. He has solid lateral movement while blocking and maintains proper arm angles while receiving. He throws pop times consistently below 2.0 and as low as 1.87. He does this with a quick exchange and an accurate arm. Offensively he starts with an athletic stance, with a smooth load and attacks the baseball with average bat speed. He has a line drive swing that keeps the barrel in the hit zone for a consistent basis, which allows him to hit the ball to all fields. Overall Hurt is an above average defender with an adequate offensive game. He is a versatile athlete that can play multiple position if needed.

Gip Burrows INF Lake Hamilton HS,
Burrows is a 5-foot-9 160-pound infielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He showed the best actions during out infield evaluation portion of the day. He played through the baseball with soft hands, fluid footwork, his quick exchange and an accurate arm. His velocity across the infield was 73 mph. Offensively he has a compact line drive swing that allowed him to hit the ball to all fields. He starts from athletic stance, with a smooth load and attacks the baseball with fast bat speed at 85 mph. He would benefit from adding strength but overall a solid player with good actions. Overall he is a plus defender with a solid swing, with a plus motor and instincts.

Gavin Heltemes, OF/RHP, Prairie Grove HS
Heltemes is a 5-foot-10 170-pound outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He stood out in the event with his overall arm strength throwing the ball 94 mph from the outfield. Besides a big arm he played through the baseball with fluid footwork and a smooth exchange. Offensively He starts from an open stance, as he strides he gets online and attacks the baseball with fast bat speed. He produced exit velocity of 86 mph with a line drive swing. He ran a 6.91 in the 60.Overall Heltemes is a good athlete with a big arm, and a raw offensive game.
