Conference Race Update: 6A East & 6A South

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The season is winding down in all corners of the state, earlier in the day we previewed where the 7A conferences races stand head down the back stretch. We move forward considering the 6A conference races.

This not near, as cut and dry as in the 7A, with the new and “improved” blended conferences. Now the seedings for the district tournament will come down to a coaches meeting, comparing resumes each team has comprised over the season.  During the meeting teams will be slotted 1-8, then they will move into a district tournament which will provide the seeding for the state tournament.

The No.1 and No. 2 seed out the district tournament will receive a buy in the state tournament.

6A East

School Conf Rec OvrRec Overall
Jonesboro 8-0 21-3 The most dominant team in the 6A East, they are having an impressive year, looking like a team that could defend their 2016 State Championship
Searcy 6-4 14-7 A team that has been steady all season, an offensive unit that has produced consistently, and a solid pitching staff lead by Adrian Hannah
West Memphis 5-4 12-8 A big series left against Marion the final week of the season, they have been steady and won the games they should have
Jacksonville 6-6 11-11 A steady well coached group, that have played solid baseball, their coaching staff will give them an edge, in a play-off situation
Pine Bluff 4-4 9-8 Two veteran arms with 2017 Brandon Little And 2017 RHP Jalen Deashazier interesting results at times,
Marion 3-2 10-12 They could help their stock next week with wins over West Memphis, not enough quality wins to move into the upper group yet
Mountain Home 5-5 8-18 A young club with some talent, with youth comes inconsistencies. The record speaks for where they are, Could be dangerous in the tournament
Hall 1-10 3-12 It's been a tough year for Hall, 3-12 is hard to push for anything other than the No 8. seed.
