By Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

With 56 days until NCAA National Signing day we take a look five unsigned seniors. This has been one of the deepest classes in recent memory with twenty players already verbally committing to NCAA Division I institutions. You can see the complete list under our commitment section, or follow us on Twitter @PBR_Arkansas.

Cale Ridling, OF,6-3, 185, Genoa Central HS,
Ridling has a big frame and  is a solid runner, he runs a 6.8 60. He has a plus arm, and he is athletic enough to move to a corner infield position if needed. Offensively he has some serious power, he tends to swing up hill but has consistently shown signs to hit the ball out of the yard. Panola, Seminole and University of Arkansas Little Rock are at the top of the list.

Danny Mitchell Jr, OF,6-0 180, North Little Rock HS,
Mitchell runs a 6.8 60 and possess an above average arm.He has good instincts defensively. Offensively he has good bat speed, and has doubles powers. He is not a polished as some, as he spends a significant amount of time playing football. University of Arkansas Little Rock has offered but, a decision has not been made.

Colby Johnson, MIF, 6-0,185, Benton HS,
Johnson is a sure handed MIF. He has good actions solid arm and is an average runner, 7.1 in the 60. His arm and feet are good enough I could see him being able to transition into a third baseman. Offensively he has a compact swing that produces line drives, that he stays to center of the field. Recruiting is wide open, right now.

Mason Gibson, RHP, 6-1, 205, Nettleton HS
The senior right-hander features a fastball that sits in the 85-86 range and tops out at 88-89 mph. Mason also features a changeup that works in the 76-78 mph range, as well as a slider and a curve-ball. His slider (75-76 mph) has sharp 11/4 action and is more developed than his curve-ball. Three- Rivers CC, Connors, State and Southwest Tennessee CC are the in the lead in the recruitment.

Jaylen Jackson,5-11, 195 MIF Watson Chapel HS
Premiere Athlete, 6.44 in the 60. Good arm strength with good hands. He is a little raw and out athletes some plays but has all the tools. The same can be said for him offensively but he has some power registering 92 on his exit velocity testing. He has several junior colleges in the mix but no one is in the lead at this point.

An update on the top 5 unsigned seniors. Ty Harpenau committed to Texas Tech, Walker Powell committed to Southern Mississippi. Daniel Sprinkle has received offers from Auburn and is visiting Arkansas this weekend. There has been little movement with Cody Davenport, Arkansas, University of Arkansas of Little Rock, and Southeast Missouri are in the hunt. Ben Madison is still wide open.
