3A State Baseball Final Four:

The 3A tournament will get underway from Butch Butler Field in Greeley on Friday and will feature a few familiar teams and a few upstart teams who got hot at tournament time.

Game 1:  10:00 am
Brush (17-6) vs. University (17-7)
The Beet diggers come into the final four with a high-powered offense that has stroked 19 homeruns on the season.  Brush is led offensively by Alec Petterson who is sporting a .415 average with 27 hits, 27 RBI and 7 homeruns and Kyle Rosenbrock who has a .373 average with 22 hits and 7 doubles on the year.

The University Bulldogs come into the final four as the upstart team of the tournament.  After winning two games in a row against higher seeds, they lost a tight one against Eaton, but look to make some noise in the Final Four on Friday.

Game 2:  12:30 pm
Eaton (24-0) vs. Sterling (16-8)
The Reds will come into this game chasing another state championship that would mark number #11 in their storied existence.  They will face off against a familiar foe that they played twice this year and won both games by a combined score of 27-0.  Players to watch for Eaton include:  Matt BurkartJoseph Mondragon,  JT Mossberg,  Dalton LindLane GreimanBrady Tedesco and Ryan Koehler.

The Sterling Tigers come into this matchup thinking it is tough to beat a team three times in a season.  They will turn to Jacob Thiesen who on the mound sports 9 wins, 65 K’s and a 2.06 ERA.  At the plate, Thiesen has a .410 average with 32 hits and 7 doubles.  The Tigers will need a complete game from Thiesen in order to hang with the reds.
