PBR Colorado Spotlight Game: Chaparral vs. Ponderosa

Parker, CO – In the first week of Continental League play Ponderosa (7-3) defeated Chaparral (1-9) 3-0 on Monday April 6th. The rivalry game did not have a lot of action on offense as there were only 5 hits total in the game.

The game started out as a great pitching duel between No 26 2015 LHP Bryan King of Ponderosa, and 2016 RHP Aaron Hammann of Chaparral. With both pitchers pounding the strike zone using an assortment of pitches and taking advantage of a strong crosswind blowing slightly in from right to left there wasn't much either offense could do. In the bottom of the 3rd inning with the score 0-0, Hammann got two quick outs then gave up a base hit to 9-hole hitter 2016 Thomas Greene. 2016 CF Mitch Halloran then hit a weak ground ball back to Hammann to appear to end the inning but Hammann overthrew 1B creating 2nd and 3rd. Next batter 2015 OF Jesse Feldhaus would make the Wolverines pay for the mistake and hit a 2-Run single to left and then advanced to 2nd on the throw home. Then No. 78 2015 Alan Jeanjaquet would single to drive in Feldhouse to make it 3-0. That is all the scoring that was needed for King. King finished the game giving up only 1 hit striking out 9. Ponderosa next plays at Regis Jesuit on 4-8-15. Chaparral plays at Mountain Vista on the same day.
