Preseason All-State 2016 Participants who are Flying Under the Radar

The Prep Baseball Report’s Preseason All-State event will take place this Sunday March 1st at the Slammers South Facility Englewood, Colorado. This will be the first year of the already packed event, with over 80 players already registered. Prospects from the 2015 and 2016 classes will come together in a pro-style workout to strut their stuff in front of the PBR scouting staff. The original event was suppose to be held on 2/22/15 but was postponed to 3/1/15 due to the snowstorm that hit Colorado.

Colorado is becoming a hot bed for out of state colleges looking to recruit the always underrated talent in our state. In this preview, we look at 2016 players who are flying under the radar:

Parker Eischen: Ponderosa
6-foot-1 175 lbs. 1B/OF. Bats left throws left. Tall athletic stance at plate with slightly open stance. Long load with quick hands to ball with quick. Athletic first baseman with good footwork around bag. Accurate arm. Last year as a sophomore had a productive year with 66 AB's hitting .400. leading the team with 15 runs scored.

Austin Gussman: Horizon
6-foot, 165 pounds, LHP, Gussman will be one of the anchors of a Horizon team that returns everyone for a potential deep 5A playoff run.

Kelton McCoy: Bayfield
6-foot-3, 190 pounds. C/3B, bats and throws right. McCoy packs a powerful swing and strong arm behind the dish. McCoy was First Team All-Intermountain All-League in 2014. McCoy's physcial presence make him an intriguing player to follow in 2014.

Brayden Petroshus: Chatfield
6-foot-1 165 lb. 3B/1B. Bats right, throws right. Athletic player..espeically for first base. Runs well for size. We had him at a 7.29 at Fall Prospect Team Tryouts. Stands tall at the plate with athletic balanced stance with a short load and short path to ball that produces gap to gap power. Bat speed produced 83 mph exit velo at tryouts. Threw 80 mph from first to third. One of the top hitters on a good Chatfield team last spring that made it to the 5A Final 8. Good student with 3.75 G.P.A.

Zane Phelps: Bayfield
6-foot-3, 195 pounds, 3B, Bats and throws right. Phelps led 3A in home runs (7) RBI’s (37) slugging (1.150) and was one run away from leading in runs (37). Phelps was a First Team All-State for PBR at the 3A level in 2014. Another Bayfield players who's physcial presence make him an intriguing player to follow in 2014.

Carter Van Gytenbeek: Cherry Creek
6-1 180 lb. RHP.  Athletic Strong frame. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Throws square and in-line to the plate. Fastball lives in low to mid 80's and has a very good slider that has late tight break. Carter will be looking to log some innings on Creek's varsity team this spring. Good student.
