Unsigned Senior Spotlight: MIF Thomas Sautel

By John Cackowski
Director of Scouting - Colorado

By the time most teenagers turn 18 they can’t say they have traveled the world visiting places such as New Zealand, Germany, and South Korea because of their athletic ability.  Most teenagers aren’t Thomas Sautel. Since the age of three Thomas has been taking Taekwondo classes and made himself into an elite athlete using his ability to face competition from around the world.  Thomas has been able to use what he has learned from Taekwondo and transfer it to the baseball field.Thomas Sautel

The 6-foot, 175-pound middle infielder is red hot this fall, playing for team PBR Colorado in the Fall Prospect Program.  Hitting from a tall stance with minimal load he has amassed a .727 clip at the plate with 3 RBI and 2 stolen bases.

He has carried this over from the spring where he finished with a .371 batting average to go along with 17 RBI, showing gap to gap power in his bat with 8 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR and was named Second Team - All Conference.

Sautel has yet to make a decision on where he wants to continue his baseball career but that isn’t because schools are interested. He has been receiving interests from in-state schools such as Adams State and Colorado Christian, as well as being pursued by Augustana College in Illinois.  He has one visit planned this fall and will be visiting Indiana Wesleyan in November.
When asked Sautel said he is open to any colleges but “would love to stay close to my family and friends here in Colorado. I am also very interested in any college outside of Colorado that gives me a chance to play and has a smaller number of student-teacher ratio”.

As the fall winds down, Sautel will begin his training for the spring High School season and looks to take on more of a leadership role.

“My goals for my senior season are, most importantly, becoming more of a leader and role model for my team. I want to improve myself in every aspect, but I am mostly concerned with being a team player. I am going to do everything in my power to make it deep into the playoffs, with the hope of a state championship. Perfect practice makes perfect...so I would like to make sure to go 110% during every practice.”

Sautel will be participating in the Fall Prospect I.D. on October 19th at Dakota Ridge High School.
