Q&A with New Mexico Commit: RHP Peyton Remy

By: Jeff Markle
Assistant State Director of Scouting

Recently PBR Colorado had a chance to hear from New Mexico commit, Peyton Remy.  The 6-foot-2, remy180-pound senior at Legend High School looks to build off of a successful junior spring season and senior fall season.  Remy made 8 appearances with the Titans last year on the mound and recorded 39 strikeouts and held opponents to a .295 average.   As a senior, Remy will be handed the ball regularly and will take the lead on trying to lead the Titans back to the playoffs.

PBR: Why did you choose New Mexico?

Remy:  I chose New Mexico because of the feel I got when I was on my official and I loved the attitude that all the coaches and players had.

PBR: Where did New Mexico first see you compete?

Remy:  They first saw me throw when I went down there for a camp last winter.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Remy:  I’m not really sure. All I can do is work for a spot and playing time.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help New Mexico?

Remy:  My biggest strength as a player is my competitiveness and I feel that will help with the attitude our team has and the goals we will set.

PBR:  What advice would you give about the recruiting process?

Remy:  Advice I would give about the recruiting process would be to wait until you fall in love with a school. Don't jump the gun early.

PBR:  What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Remy:  My most memorable moment playing baseball would be when we beat chaparral my sophomore year in the playoffs in a elimination game.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Remy:  The person that had the biggest impact as me as a baseball player and a pitcher would have to be my summer and fall coach Clint Zavaras. He has taught me a lot about the game and how to go about it.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?

Remy:  For the past 3 years I've played with the Colorado slammers and my most memorable moment would have all the van rides we have been on as a team.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Colorado?

Remy:  The toughest pitcher I have faced is Ryan Connolly no doubt.

PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Remy:  My personal goals are to give my team the best chance to win every time I pitch. Our team goals are to play the best we can and make a deep run in the playoffs.
