Q&A with Preseason All-State Participant: Jacob Brown

By Jeff Markle
Assistant State Director

Prep Baseball Report Colorado is getting ready for the start of the high school spring baseball season with the Preseason All State event on February 22nd at Slammers South.  Over the course of this final week we will showcase several of the participants at this year's event.  Continuing our look is 2015 6-foot-5, 185 pound, RHP/OF, Jacob Brown from Northglenn High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:

Brown:  Level headed, never rattled. Resilient.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?  If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?

Brown:  Garden City, good location near some family and a great program

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?

Brown:  I am a good team mate. I love the game. I expect the best from myself and those around me. I am honest, and respectful of others.

PBR:  What does your off-season preparation look like this year compared to you freshman year?

Brown:  I really haven't had an off-season this year. I have played all summer, and was able to play on the Colorado Rockies Senior Scout team last fall. I experienced some tendonitis half way through the fall season, and have been working out and doing physical therapy to recover and get stronger. Further, I have been pitching twice a week with Coach Clint Zavaras all winter.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?

Brown:  Have a short memory. Your last pitch doesn't matter. All that matters is your next pitch. Make it your best.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?

Brown:  I have to have my pre-game Skittles on days I pitch.

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season:  My goal this season is to keep improving, stay healthy, and win every game.

Two Years:  I would like to be playing baseball, and hopefully have interest from some 4 year programs.

Four Years:  I want to be well on my way to finishing my degree in Physical Therapy.
