Prep Baseball Report

Updated 2018 Rankings

John Cackowski
State Director

In the winter of 2015 PBR Colorado released our first ever 2018 rankings which consisted of 40 players. In the past two years Prep Baseball Report Colorado has had the opportunity to cover amateur baseball like no other organization has ever been able to do before in the state of Colorado. Between scouting numerous games last spring and summer, and having a great opportunity to see more 2018 grads at the Preseason All-State and Senior Games, we were able to move our 2018 ranking list to 150 players. With the recent move of Cole Winn to California to play for Orange Lutheran, we also have a new overall No. 1. Our next big 2018 rankings update will be posted after our Preseason All-State in February.

Tanner O'Tremba OF / RHP / Cherry Creek, CO / 2018

6-foot, 200 pounds. Bats and throws right. The Texas Tech commit dominated the spring as a junior hitting .515 with 10 HR and 31 RBI. Armed with a 97 mph Exit Velo, and upper 80's arm, and a 6.8 60 time, O'Tremba just came back and impressed the competition with his recent showing at the Area Code Games.

Justin Olson 1B / LHP / Pine Creek, CO / 2018

6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Bats and throws left. A lot of juice in Olson's bat. Power to both gaps. Strong wrists and great extension through zone with level swing through zone but generates great back spin. Ball just flies off bat. Hard to pitch to because hands are back, and there is good plate coverage. At 1B has good feet and a strong arm. Not sure if he's a 1B or OF yet at next level, but his left handed bat will for sure play.

Kayden Seriani RHP / Paonia, CO / 2018

6-0, 200 pounds. The big power RHP out of small school Paonia dominated 2A competition last spring helping lead the Eagles to undefeated 25-0 season and 2A state championship. Armed with an upper 80's fastball, which recently touched 91 at the Area Code Games. Curveball is sharp at 75-78 mph. The Grand Canyon commit could be the top pitcher in our state after the 2018 spring season.

Luke Ziegler 3B / RHP / Valor Christian, CO / 2018

6-foot-3, 190 pounds. Bats and throw right. The Pepperdine commit showed well at the recent Area Code Games. Ziegler has a wide athletic stance. Wiry frame with some more weight to add on top of 190 pounds. Nice level swing through zone with bottom hand finish but gets good extension through the baseball. Centers everything, gap to gap in live round. 93 mph exit velocity off the tee. Ranges well for tall 3B to glove and throwing hand side. Could play ss at high school level. Strong arm across diamond at 85 mph. Has a lot of potential at next level on the mound. Fastball sits 86-87 touching 88 with sink. Comes from a ¾ arm slot. Has good pace on mound. Gets the ball and goes. Arm is loose and works well with lower half. Lands inline towards plate with good leg drive towards plate. Solid prospect.

Luke Leisenring C / SS / Ralston Valley, CO / 2018

6-foot-3, 190 pounds. Switch hitter, throws right. Also attended the recent Area Code Games,  Leisenring keeps it simple from both sides of the plate. Stands tall, short stride, minimal load and swing is repeated from both sides. Level through the zone and slightly uphill. Right side is his power side. Left side is line drive power through the middle of infield. Right side more gap to gap. Produced a 93 mph exit velo from left side, and 94 mph exit velo from right side off the tee. Advanced catching skills, especially for his size. Beats the ball and is soft when receiving. Blocks ball well. On throw downs is quick out of the crouch, over the top arm slot which is a quick glove to hand exchange. Pop-times were 1.88-1.92 off a coach. Arm velo was 74 mph. Ran a 4.22 home to first. Solid prospect.

Other risers in the 2018 rankings are LHP Quinton Parr out of Cherry Creek moving from 27 to 13. RHP Luke La Flam out of Grandview moved into the top 15. OF Tyler Shultz enters rankings for first time at 27.
