East Coast Pro Tryout Standouts

By Doug Freeman
Florida Scouting Director

East Coast Pro is one of the most highly recognized events for high school baseball players on the East Coast and a tryout took place Tuesday at Tropicana field in Tampa for the majority of the top players in Florida. Position players took part in a pro-style workout, batting practice and a variety of testing run by Major League Baseball’s Prospect Development Pipeline.

The event was filled with players ranked in PBR Florida's 2018 Top 100 and a few guys jumped out immediately with impressive times in the 60-yard dash. The best time of the day came from, OFIsaiah Thomas (Benjamin School), a Vanderbilt recruit who ran a 6.37. Other top times included SS Xavier Edwards (North Broward Prep) with a 6.5, SS Blaze Alexander (Bishop Verot) with a 6.67, OF Jarrett Hall (Cardinal Gibbons HS) with a 6.65, and SS Andres Antonini (St Thomas Aquinas HS) with a 6.69.
