FL Insider: A Couple of Athletic 2017 Second Basemen who can Really Swing the Bat

A couple of second basemen who can really swing the bat are the topic of today’s Florida Insider. These two young men are great athletes who can really play all over the field but profile well for second base at the next level.

Eldrige Figueroa MIF, Oviedo HS 2017

Figueroa is an uncommitted incoming junior who is 5-foot-7, 140 pounds with a smaller, compact, lean, and athletic body with good strength for his size. He is quiet at the plate, he gets a small separation for his load, and his bat gets into a good angle to give him extra power. Eldrige has good bat speed, a nice swing plane, the ball really jumps off his bat, and he has good power for his size. His current gap power and his ability to occasionally drive the ball out of the park with wood will draw the attention of schools soon if he has not already.

Tyler Paige MIF, Westminster Christian 2017

Paige is an uncommitted incoming junior who stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with a lean, athletic, compact, and strong frame. He is quiet at the plate with good rhythm and gets a small separation for his load and has a good base with a small stride. Paige is an aggressive player with good bat speed. He doesn’t get beat in and the ball jumps off his bat. Tyler can play any infield position and he has the arm to stay on the left side of the diamond at the next level. He seems to profile physically as a second baseman but either way his bat is what likely will be attracting the recruiters to come see him perform.
