FL Insider: More Highly Ranked Uncommitted 2016 Players

To continue our look at the top uncommitted 2016 players in Florida, we will highlight a few players who not only have the ability to play at the next level, but will likely make an impact at a division I program. Here are a few more talented young men who remain uncommitted:

Alek Manoah 1B/RHP, South Dade HS 2016
Ranked at number 21 in the 2016 class in Florida, Manoah stands at an impressive 6-foot-6, 245 pounds with a very tall body and thick, strong lower half. He possesses a loose arm at a high ¾ slot and the ball jumps out of his hand. His fast ball sits 90-93 mph with good downward tilt and his curve ball is 75-76 mph with ¾ rotation and occasional depth. Manoah’s curve ball is already an average ML pitch and his changeup is 80-82 mph with some feel. Alek is a power arm that shouldn’t be uncommitted for long because he could make an immediate impact at the next level.

Santino Miozzi C/1B, Lake Nona HS 2016
Miozzi comes in ranked at number 55 in the 2016 class in Florida. He stands at 6-foot-2 200 pounds with a tall and thicker frame. He has a quick transfer behind the plate with a plus arm, good footwork, and a consistent 1.8 pop time. At the plate he gets a small separation for his load and has a short, simple swing. He can cut off his swing before extension but hits consistent line drives. Santino’s defense alone should make him very attractive to division I schools as he is a guy who will be able to throw at runners consistently.

Will West RHP, Niceville HS 2016
Ranked at number 71 in the 2016 class in Florida, West stands at 6-foot-3, 175 pound with a tall, loose, lean, athletic, and projectable body with a wide back (great pitchers body). He possesses a loose, quick arm with an over hand slot and has a high front side with good downward tilt to his fast ball at 85-88 mph. The ball jumps out of his hand and his fast ball is straight but has some deception, is sneaky, and is tough to pick up. Will’s slider is above average and is a short, tight downer with depth at 74-76 mph. He also has feel for the change up at 77-78 mph. He has a short stride and lands slightly across the body. His stuff will continue to improve with velocity and his velocity will continue to improve with physical maturity. West showed in our Top Prospect Games that he should be a good college pitcher and is a definite division I prospect.

Travis MacGregor RHP/INF, East Lake HS 2016
Ranked at number 111 in the 2016 class in Florida, MacGregor stands at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds with a tall, lanky, and projectable body. He possesses a long, loose arm action with an over the top arm slot and everything stays in line in his delivery. He could use more of his lower half but he does get good extension. His fastball sits 86-89 mph and his curve ball is 70-72 mph that is a downer and has good depth. He fills up the zone with both pitches and there is more velocity to come with added strength, weight, and maturity. MacGregor has low mileage on his arm and he is somewhat under the radar because he just started pitching within the last year. Travis is a division I prospect who has the potential to improve with repetition and coaching.
