Olympia Takes Down Lake Mary 8-1

LAKE MARY – The Lake Mary Rams hosted the Olympia Titans in a game that featured the No. 1 prospect in the country—SS Brendan Rodgers of Lake Mary—and one of the top pitchers in Florida—LHP Juan Hillman. These two players drew about 25 scouts as both are expected to be high picks in this years’ Major League draft. As for the game itself, Olympia showed why they are still undefeated and one of the top teams in the country as they handled Lake Mary 8-1. Hillman led the way by throwing four innings, striking out eight, and allowing one run. At the plate, 2015 OF Cameron Montgomery, a South Florida signee, hit a solo home run and 2015 OF Kirk Sidwell, a Stetson recruit, hit a two-run home run to help pace the Titan offense.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third when Hillman led off the inning with a single to right and was driven in on a double by 2016 3B Jordan Morrow. Sidwell then delivered a towering two-run home run to left to give Olympia a 3-0 lead. The Titans were able to add two more runs the very next inning including one run that came off a sacrifice fly by Hillman. The Rams, however, were able to get one back in the bottom half of the frame off of a single by 2015 1B Jake Corso, a Central Florida recruit.

Olympia coasted until the seventh when they added three more runs, one coming off Montgomery’s deep home run to left and two from a single by 2016 C Zach Mishriki. Lake Mary was unable to respond in the bottom half and Olympia sealed the 8-1 victory.
