DUNEDIN – Palm Harbor University was able to take down host Dunedin to win the Dunedin Spring Classic 6-2. Behind a strong pitching performance from 2016 LHP Colt Mink who went four innings, giving up two runs and striking out three, and 2018 LHP Paul Beverly who went three innings giving up no runs and striking out four, the Hurricanes were able to shut down a powerful Falcons lineup. Offensively, Palm Harbor was led by 2016 OF Adam Jurco who went 2-3 with a triple and RBI, and 2016 C Mark Coleman who went 2-2 with a double and two RBI’s.

The Hurricanes struck first by scoring one in the second off a Coleman single that was lined to right. Dunedin, however, was able to respond in the fourth with two runs to take the lead, one coming off a Tim Luth (2015 RHP/3B) double down the left field line. That was short-lived as Jurco led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a triple and Palm Harbor was able to score two runs to take a 3-2 lead.

The Hurricanes scored two in the fifth, one run coming off a Jurco single. Their final run was scored when Coleman roped his RBI double to left center. Beverly only allowed one base runner in the seventh as he shut the door to give Palm Harbor the victory.
