Panhandle Prospect Identification-Catcher Analysis

The Panhandle Prospect Identification Showcase took place on August 23rd and 24th at Godby High School and featured many uncommitted prospects in the 2015-2017 classes.  Several prospects impressed, and all were evaluated by the PBR Florida Scouting Staff. Below is an analysis of the catcher's performances at the event. Infielder, outfielder, and pitcher analysis will be released in the upcoming days.


Daren Hasch (2015) – Ft. Walton Beach HS: Daren Hasch is a 2015 left handed hitting C/3B from Fort Walton Beach HS. At 6-foot-0, 173 pounds, Hasch has a lanky, strong body. Hasch ran a 7.26 60 at the NLB showcase in Tallahassee and had a 2.2 pop time. Hasch has a short arm action, average hands, and good footwork. Future development should focus on his exchange.

Matthew Harrington (2016) – Providence HS: Matthew Harrington is a 2016 C/1B from Providence HS. The 6-foot-0, 185 pound Harrington ran a 7.8 60 and had an exit velo of 76 mph at the Panhandle ID. With a strong body, Harrington has a quick transfer and long over the top arm action with carry. Harrington’s pop times were 2.05 and 2.12. Harrington shows quick feet and a clean exchange on transfer.

Bo Seccombe (2016) - Lincoln HS: Bo Seccombe is a 5-foot-10, 190 pound C/1B from Lincoln HS. Seccombe ran a 7.22 60 and had an exit velo of 87 mph. Behind the plate, Seccombe had pop times of 1.95 and 2.02 while displaying a quick transfer. Seccombe has a strong body frame with short arm action, soft hands, and quick feet.

Austin Kershaw (2016) – Chiles HS: Kershaw is a 2016 RHP/C from Chiles HS.  Austin Kershaw is a 2016 C/OF/RHP from Chiles HS. At 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, Kershaw has short arm action that displays an accurate arm with life. From the OF, Kershaw was clocked at 84 mph and had an exit velo of 87 mph. He also ran a 7.36 60 at the Panhandle ID event. Behind the plate, Kershaw had pop times of 2.23 and 2.3. In the field, Kershaw plays through the ball well while showing quick feet.

Jake Webb (2015) - Wakulla HS: Jake Webb is a 5-foot-11, 210 pound catcher from Wakulla HS. With a big frame, Webb has a short, over the top arm action that creates carry. At the Panhandle ID, Webb ran a 8.14 60, had a throwing velo of 71 and an exit velo of 74. Behind the plate, Webb had a pop time of 2.17. Webb displays soft hands with quick feet and a smooth transfer.

Andrew Williamson (2015) - Trinity Christian Academy (Jax): Andrew Williamson is a 2015 catcher from Trinity Christian out of Jacksonville. Williamson has a strong body at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. The right handed hitting catcher ran a 7.11 60 and displayed an exit velo of 89 mph. With short arm action, Williamson had a pop time of 2.18 and had soft hands with a clean transfer.

Hunter Miller (2016) - Liberty HS: Hunter Miller is a 5-foot-8, 190 pound C/1B from Liberty HS. Miller has big, wide shoulders and displays short, over the top, average arm action. Miller ran a 7.84 60 and had an 80 mph exit velo. Miller had a pop time of 2.2. Development should focus on footwork and quickening exchange.

Russell Rauh (2016) - Leon HS: Russell Rauh is a lanky 6-foot-5, 175 pound C/1B from Leon HS. Rauh ran a 7.5 60 and posted an 81 mph exit velo at the Panhandle ID event. Also at the event, Rauh had a pop time of 2.1. Rauh has a long high 3/4 arm slot that produces carry. He shows soft hands, quick feet, and a clean exchange on balls. Development should focus on shortening the arm action and increasing accuracy.

Jacob Zamora (2016) - Santa Fe HS: Jacob Zamora is a big body C/1B from Santa Fe HS. The 5-foot-11, 200 pound Zamora ran a 7.67 60 and posted an 83 mph exit velo at the Panhandle ID event. Zamora had a pop time of 2.35 behind the plate with a quick exchange. Development should focus on footwork which should improve along with arm strength.
