FORT MYERS—The North Florida Christian Eagles battled the Westminster Christian Warriors for the 3A state championship in a game that ended up being very one-sided. With 2016 LHP and FSU commit Cole Ragans on the mound for NFC, it was expected be a very low scoring game, however, the Warriors were able to put up three runs in the first inning and went on to win the game 7-2. 2015 RHP and Barry Signee Jagr Enriquez had 4 2/3 innings pitched and one earned run to lead the way on the mound.

In the top of the first, 2015 3B and Vanderbilt Signee Julian Infante gave Westminster their initial spark with a double that was roped off the Green Monster in left and brought in the first run of the game. The second run came in on a successfully executed squeeze play and the third run of the inning came in on a double steal. Two more runs came in the third inning for Westminster on a fielder’s choice and an error. Their final two runs came off a pinch hit single by 2016 OF Miguel Cardoza.

NFC was able to scatter two runs throughout the game but was never really in it after that huge first inning for Westminster. The game was actually cut short in the middle of the sixth inning due to a thunderstorm that lingered around for multiple hours and the game was called final at 7-2. This is Westminster Christian’s eleventh state championship as a program, which ties them with Key West for most all time in the state of Florida.
