PBR: Why did you choose Winona State University?
KETELSEN: I chose Winona State because it was the best fit for me. The coaching staff and the players were great when I went up for my visits and it just felt right.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
KETELSEN: I was considering a couple of other schools but some things changed and I was able to narrow it down to either Winona State or DMACC.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
KETELSEN: They first saw me at the Junior Showcase at Southeast Polk last summer. We started emailing, texting and calling, which resulted in my first visit.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
KETELSEN: Yes, it feels good having the decision all done so I can focus on school and just getting better for the next couple of years.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
KETELSEN: There wasn't just one thing that put them on top. It was a number of factors. The coaches, the players and the fact that they are building a new baseball facility soon were very important. The campus is really nice and the school is too.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
KETELSEN: I can't single out one specific person that has helped me the most because I've had so many people help me. A couple specifics would be my parents (Suzy and Scott), my coaches (Coach Eldred, Coach Elliot, Coach Timm and Coach Ash), my friends and family.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
KETELSEN: I was expecting it to be a fun process but a tough one. You only get recruited one time so I tried to make the most of it.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
KETELSEN: I haven’t seen a specific plan yet. They know I’ve got high school baseball this spring and summer. Once that’s done I’m sure they will get me going on weights and training. I want to come in, work hard and see how much I can help contribute to the team.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
KETELSEN: Freshman year we had a lot of injures especially to the pitching staff, which led to me getting the opportunity to pitch a lot on varsity that year. That was the year we made the state tournament and my favorite memory was I pitched the sub-state game. We won 10-0 and I threw a 3 hitter.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
KETELSEN: I would have to say Spencer Van Scoyoc or Joey Polak. Both are great players and I had a chance to compete and be a teammate with them. Spencer is going to Arizona State and Joey is going to South Carolina.
