2015 RHP Jeremy Orbik names his school

Ever since his freshman year, when Jeremy Orbik was named one of the top pitching prospects at the PBR Underclass Invitational, the lanky right-hander from Homewood-Flossmoor HS was earmarked as one of the premier prospects in Illinois’ 2015 class.

Fast forward to the fall of his junior year, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Orbik had established himself as of the top prospects in the Midwest, and his steady rise culminated with a verbal commitment to the University of Kentucky over the weekend.

Ranked No. 8 in Illinois’ extremely talented 2015 class and No. 32 overall, Orbik had a strong showing at the Midwest Future Games in August for Team Illinois, throwing two scoreless innings behind an easy 86-87 mph fastball. Orbik’s arm works extremely fast with excellent hand acceleration and extension. He works from high-3/4 slot with long, loose arm action. Curveball showed potential to be plus pitch at the next level, registering 71-72 mph with sharp, late two-plane break. Changeup ranged between 74-76 mph.

Orbik is the second 2015 prospect from Illinois to commit to Kentucky, joining Johnsburg catcher Brandon Krennrich.
