CARY, IL – Fox Valley Conference rivals McHenry and Cary Grove met in a 4A regional semifinal on Friday afternoon. Bobby Miller did it all for the Warriors in their 4-0 victory over Cary Grove.

Bobby Miller2017 RHPs Bobby Miller and Matt McCumber matched up in the much-anticipated game. After neither allowed any runs in the first, Miller doubled to start the top of the second and as replaced by courtesy runner Ian Grubich. Grubich tagged up on a fly out to right field and then the rains came.

After about a 45 minute delay the game resumed and Matt Nagel dropped a single in to score Grubich and give the Warriors the 1-0 lead.

That was all the support Miller needed in the complete game effort. Miller came out hot in the first inning work 90-92 and touching 93 mph multiple times but ran into some trouble as he walked the bases loaded with two outs. He then got a flyout to escape the jam. Miller came back from the delay in impressive fashion working mostly 87-89 mph, still hitting 90 mph in the seventh. He complimented his fastball with a slider that induced multiple swings and misses. Miller allowed just two hits and struck out nine to earn the shutout.

To help his cause Miller hit a two run line drive homer to right field in the third inning to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead. McHenry added another run in the sixth when Matt Nagel singled in pinch runner Brendon LoPresti, who ran for Dyaln Honkala who doubled with one out.

Dallas McDonough and Mark Smith had the hits for the Trojans.

McHenry will play Grant tomorrow for the 4A Cary Grove Regional Championship.
