Jackson Dvorak (3-for-3) and Tom Kelley had run-scoring singles in the bottom of the fifth after South took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the top of the inning. Tyler Zarembka picked up the win in relief for the defending champs, allowing an earned run on three hits in 3 ⅔ innings. Matt Trzesnewski pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

CLASS 3A SUPERSECTIONALS
No. 20 Springfield 10, Freeburg 5
Trevor Minder’s three-run double broke open a close game as Springfield put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth on the way to it first state appearance since 1985. Alderman went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Lavin added two hits and two RBI for the Senators.

Limestone 3, Sycamore 1
Bryce Meyer struck out nine in the complete-game victory, allowing six hits and a walk as Limestone punched its first ticket to state in a decade. The Rockets will face Springfield at noon on Friday in the semifinals. James Welton went 3-for-3 and scored two runs in the victory.
