PBR GAME OF THE DAY

No. 7 St. Rita 8, No. 3 Mt. Carmel 5
The Caravan got a two-run single by Zion Pettigrew in the top of the third to take a 4-1 lead. Mt. Carmel held onto the lead until the fifth, when St. Rita (19-6) answered with five runs, taking a 6-4 lead. Dominic Sarro, Tyler Woynerowski and Steven Washilewski had RBI singles in the frame. LHP Washilewski got the complete game victory for the Mustangs. He went seven innings, allowing eight hits, five runs, two earned, struck out five and walked two. Mt. Carmel center-fielder Alek Thomas, made the play of the day in the first inning, a full extension diving catch in the left-center field gap, taking away a potential RBI and extra-base hit from Cal Greenfield.

No. 1 Brother Rice 3, No. 9 Providence 0
Ryan Kutt’s
three-hitter with 14 strikeouts highlighted Brother Rice’s 23rd consecutive victory as the Crusaders swept their two-game series with the defending Class 4A champs. Jack Guzek had two hits and Ryan King drove in two without a hit for Brother Rice. Kutt did not walk a batter.

No. 2 O’Fallon 17, East St. Louis 0
Dillon Weiss
had two doubles, two RBI and two runs and three O’Fallon pitchers limited East St. Louis to two hits while striking out 11 in the five-inning victory.

No. 4 St. Laurence 3, Marmion 2
Jack Cavanaugh’s
RBI single in the bottom of the 11th won it for the Vikings. Matt McCormick went 3-for-4 and Jake Lotz got the final four outs for the win. Anthony Robles struck out seven in eight innings of four-hit ball for St. Laurence.

No. 4 St. Laurence 7, Marmion 1
Tommy Farrell
pitched four innings of one-hit ball and went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the victory. Brian Lyle went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, Matt McCormick had three hits and Jake Diaz doubled twice for the Vikings.

No. 5 St. Charles North 10, Elgin 0
Sean Krueger
hit a three-run homer and Tim Hasto allowed two hits in four scoreless innings to earn the win.

No. 6 Plainfield North 3, No. 21 Plainfield South 2
Tyler Garrity
allowed two runs on four hits in five innings, and Connor Peplow struck out three in two scoreless innings for the save and the three-game sweep.. Garrity and Zach Jarosz had two hits apiece off of South RHP Jordan Mikel, who gave up three unearned runs in 5⅓. North allowed a total of two runs in the series.

No. 8 Edwardsville 7, Alton 2
Jake Garella
and Tyler Stamer hit home runs for Edwardsville. Stamer’s three-run shot keyed a five-run fourth inning that gave Edwardsville a 7-0 lead. Andrew Frank pitched six innings of three-hit ball for the win.

No. 10 Lincoln-Way North 11, Andrew 3
Luke Witkowski
had two hits and drove in two runs and Luke Bertolani added two RBI for the Phoenix. Tom Szczasny had an RBI triple and scored two runs for North.

Bolingbrook 4, No. 11 Sandburg 0
Jacob Nagel
pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts for the Raiders. Jeremiah Lebron and Jordan Jackson had two hits apiece and T.J. DeHerrera had two RBI for Bolingbrook.

Loyola 7, No. 14 St. Francis 4
Lin Peistrup’s
three-run double gave the Ramblers a 7-1 lead in the fourth inning. Andrew Bartholow scored two runs as Loyola completed the two-game sweep. Foster Heise homered for St. Francis.

No. 17 Moline 12, Alleman 1
Anfernee Crompton
hit a three-run homer in the 10-run second inning for Moline.

No. 18 Lemont 16, Blue Island Eisenhower 4
Dom Connolly
had three hits and Casey O’Brien drove in three runs for Lemont. Kevin Tuscher had two hits and scored two runs in the victory.

No. 20 Peoria Notre Dame 7, No. 12 Normal Community 2
Luke Shadid
hit a home run and Alex Skibba scattered nine hits for the complete-game victory and went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run. J.D. Villafuerte had three hits for Normal.

No. 23 Oak Park 6, Addison Trail 0
Roy Iverson
pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Huskies. Connor Nelson went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI and Dali Durazo had three RBI.

No. 24 Prairie Ridge 3, Grayslake North 0
Ethan Routzahn
pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk and Jacob Carpenter went 2-for-2 with two RBI for the Wolves. Jon Tieman singled, doubled and scored two runs.

Morton 11, Pekin 1
Ryan Altenberger, Collin Mormann and Dan Bolt each had three hits for Morton. Altenberger also got the win on the mound going five innings, allowing one hit, one run, struck out six and walked two.

Benet 3, Neuqua Valley 2
Dan Sobolewski
had an RBI single in the three-run third inning and seven Benet pitchers limited Neuqua to a total of four hits.

Joliet Catholic 6, Marian Central 2
Joe Buhay’s
three-run double capped a five-run seventh as JCA broke open a 1-0 game. Aidan Tyrell went 3-for-3 and Jared Jones allowed three hits in six scoreless innings in the victory.

Lake Park 6, Wheaton North 2
Jim McDonald
recorded 16 strikeouts, allowing five hits and four walks in the complete-game victory. Colin Fowich hit a two-run homer for the Lancers.

Homewood-Flossmoor 8, Lincoln-Way East 6
Bryce Gray
went 3-for-3 and Cobi Sabo went 2-for-3 and endured 11 hits to record the complete-game victory.

Stagg 8, Joliet West 6
Max Downs
went 3-for-4 with four RBI for Stagg. Ryan O’Connell added two hits and scored three runs in the victory.

Lockport 7, Joliet Central 1
Anthony Cocco
homered for the second straight game, Gavin Lovesky went 2-for-2 and Matt Harder went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Porters.

Bremen 3, Argo 1
Mike Fuentes
went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI for the Braves. Colin Watson allowed six hits and struck out 11 in the complete-game victory.

Shepard 13, T.F. North 6
Jordan Noftz, Rob Marinec
and AJ Alarcon drove in three runs apiece for Shepard. Connor Doolan allowed two hits and struck out six in five innings to earn the win.

Wauconda 8, Carmel 6
Collin Shrader
had two doubles and three RBI and Wauconda scored six unearned runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead.

York 6, Leyden 5
Cam Fowler
drove in five of York’s six runs, including a two-run single in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie.

Downers Grove South 8, Glenbard West 1
Zack Jones
pitched five innings of one-hit ball, striking out five and walking none, and Mike Hall had two hits and three RBI for the Mustangs.

Rolling Meadows 7, Hersey 6
Ryan Laboda
raced home on Hank Holm’s ground ball in the bottom of the 10th for Rolling Meadows. Alex Rezny had three hits and pitched 3⅔ scoreless innings to earn the win.

Buffalo Grove 8, Prospect 4
John Carpinelli
hit a home run and Leo Rule had two hits, stole two bases and drove in two runs for the Bison.

Conant 7, Schaumburg 5
Logan Smith
went 3-for-3, Ryan Roberts doubled and singled and Ian Taylor struck out five in three innings of relief to earn the win.

Elk Grove 6, Lane 4
Christian Camacho
and Chuck Fleming had RBI doubles in the Grenadiers’ four-run seventh-inning rally.

Grayslake Central 6, Jacobs 5
Ben Fitzgerald
homered in each of his first two at-bats, a solo shot in the first inning and a two-run blast in the third to stake Central to a 3-0 lead.

Cary-Grove 6, Lake Zurich 3
Ben Dolezal
allowed an unearned run on three hits in six innings while striking out six for the Trojans. Tyler Pennington and Kevin Pederson had two hits apiece in the victory.

McHenry 10, Dundee-Crown 0
Michael Lasiewicz
pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk in the six-inning victory. Bobby Miller homered and Matt Nagel went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI for McHenry.

Crystal Lake South 13, Zion-Benton 3
Cam Geisser
had three hits and Nick Van Witzenburg drove in three runs for the Gators.

Warren 8, Westmont 3
Robert Archbold
had two hits and two RBI as the Blue Devils continued to roll. Eric Ripley allowed one hit in 4⅓ innings of relief for the win.

David Adelstein
went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Giants. Jack Zeidler and Jordan Mendiola had two hits apiece in the victory.

Maine West 8, Deerfield 1
Matt Willett
pitched a three-hitter and Matt Johnston went 3-for-3 in the victory.

Glenbrook North 13, Niles North 2
Jordan Kaplan
hit a home run and Jimmy Karfis had three RBI for the Spartans. Noah Taffel pitched a complete game.

Josh Mayorga
struck out 15 and allowed an unearned run on five hits in the complete-game victory. He added three hits and Josh Gutierrez went 4-for-4 with three RBI for the Greyhounds.

pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks for the Meteors. Isidro DeSantiago went 2-for-2 with a triple in the victory.

Grayson Sanchez
had four RBI and Gary Anish doubled twice and drove in three for the Rams.

Bloomington Central Catholic 2, Mahomet-Seymour 0
Sam Heaton
allowed two hits in nine scoreless innings and singled and scored as Bloomington Central broke through with two runs in the top of the 10th. Nick Hermann pitched all 10 innings for Mahomet-Seymour and did not allow an earned run.

Maroa-Forsyth 4, Rantoul 2

pitched a four-hitter and went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs for Maroa-Forsyth. He struck out eight, walked three and did not allow an earned run.

Drew Millas
had two hits and Patrick Gaul and Jordan Yates drove in two runs apiece in the victory. Ben Cruikshank struck out seven in 4⅔ innings.

Normal West 10, Richwoods 2
Nick Watson
went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs for West. Mitch Fairfield allowed an earned run on three hits in six innings for the win.

Centennial 6, Danville 4
Chris Monroe
went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs, including a run-scoring single in the two-run seventh for Centennial.

Bret Bushka
went 3-for-4 with four RBI and Ryan Schefske went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs for East.

Tyler Kledzik
hit a three-run homer and Jimmy Roach went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs for the Bulldogs.

Joe Roberson
pitched a four-hitter and went 3-for-4 with five RBI for the Storm.

Drew DeMumbrum
allowed three hits in five scoreless innings and went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI for East.

Mike Dato
drove in four runs and Carter Turnquist struck out 10 in six innings for the Panthers. Konor Gengler had two hits and scored three runs for Oswego.

and Devin Smith combined on a five-inning no-hitter in the victory. Zach Earls had two hits and three RBI.
