The Skinny:
Although not an imposing presence on the mound, Ash has a bulldog mentality and attacks hitters with an advanced three-pitch mix. He features a quick, athletic arm with a mid-80s fastball.  His fastball plays harder thanks to an excellent changeup in which he throws aggressively, and a short, tight slider. Ash proved he can get consistent outs on the varsity level this spring as a sophomore. Over the course of the last year, Ash has shown steady improvements in his game.

Scouting Report:
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed pitcher impressed with plus arm speed for age and smallish frame. Plenty of projection remaining. Fastball sat 84-86 mph from quick, loose, high ¾ arm slot, loads knee over rubber at balance point, aggressive with lower half, jumps at hitter, slightly uphill shoulders/front side, smooth rhythm through delivery, lands slightly closed at times, stride direction is in line with home plate. Curveball and slider both sat in the 71-73 mph range, similar shapes, better command of hard, late breaking slider, 10/4 shape. Plus feel for 78 mph changeup thrown aggressively with arm side run. Ash will be one of the top arms in the 2017 class to follow thanks to his arm speed and feel for three pitches, especially if he grows/physically matures. This one-of-a-kind event will feature the best uncommitted Class of 2017 prospects from our 20-plus state coverage area. The Future Games will take place on July 30 - Aug 1 (Thursday-Saturday) at Grand Park, a state-of-the-art 22-field baseball complex located in Westfield, IN, just north of Indianapolis. The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for Class of 2017 prospects and select 2018 prospects. Last year, more than 110 colleges from all over the country were in attendance.
