No. 5 O’Fallon 7, No. 32 Benet Academy 0
O’Fallon (4-1) blanked the Redwings behind a two-hit shutout from East Carolina-bound RHP Chris Holba (2-1). Holba struck out nine and walked one. Dillon Weiss had a pair of singles and drove home two Panther runs while SIU-bound Bradley Harrison doubled and had two RBI. The game was scoreless when the Panthers exploded for three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth and Holba did the rest.  

No. 5 O’Fallon 7, Chaminade (MO) 4
O’Fallon (5-1) rolled out to a 7-1 lead and coasted to the victory over its St.Louis guests from Chaminade. Nick Crabtree doubled and drove home three Panther runs. SIU-bound Bradley Harrison chipped in with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI. Dillon Weiss and Kyle VanBevern both, doubled and drove home a run.

No. 7 Champaign Central 10, Pontiac 0

After romping past four Minnesota schools and one Florida school, by a combined 66-8 margin in Cocoa Beach, Florida, the Maroons returned to The Land of Lincoln and routed Pontiac at home in Champaign, on Saturday. Junior RHP Phil Swartz (4-0) fired a four-hit shutout striking out eight. Junior Joe Aielts plated three Maroon runs while Louisville-bound Jake Snider and junior Alec Barger each drove home two runs for Central.

No. 8 St. Laurence 14, Peoria Richwoods 6
St. Laurence (2-0) outslugged the Knights in Peoria, behind Mike Finger and Anthony Rios. Finger had two singles and three RBI, while Rios had four singles and plated two Viking runs. Tom Farrell doubled, tripled and had two RBI while Jimmy Burnette, went 3-for-3 at the plate. Frank Greco (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Vikes, allowing three runs and six hits in his five innings on the mound.   

No. 10 Nazareth Academy 10, De Paul Prep 0
Nazareth Academy (5-0) rolled past the Rams behind a combined two-hit shutout from Carson Bartels and John A. Logan-bound Mike Kogut. Bartels (1-0) allowed three hits with six strikeouts, in four innings and Kogut fired a hitless fifth inning to wrap up the win. Junior catcher Shane Gipson went deep for the Roadrunners and Richie Kiernicki doubled and plated two Roadrunner runs.

No. 12 Metamora 13, Dixon 3
Metamora (5-0) destroyed the Dukes in five innings in Galesburg on Saturday. The Redbirds were led by Illinois Central-bound Brady Fairfield, who had two doubles and drove home three runs. Caleb Brachbill, fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle and plated a pair of runs while Arizona-bound Trent Johnson had two doubles and two RBI.  

No. 12 Metamora 13, Abingdon 3
Metamora (6-0) was led once again by Brady Fairfield who had three more hits including two doubles and drove home three more runs. Trent Johnson singled and hit his third bomb of the season and had two RBI. Corbin Adams singled and plated two runs, while Peyton Biernet had two singles and an RBI.

No. 15 Providence 9, No. 20 Minooka 4 (6 innings)

The defending Class 4A champs rolled past the Indians at Tom Dedin Field in New Lenox behind junior Jimmy Jeffries. Jeffries had three hits, including two doubles and plated four Celtic runs. Matt Diehl added a single, double and two RBI while Justin Dvorak chipped in with a two singles a triple and an RBI. Senior RHP Justin Hunniford (1-0) allowed an unearned run and three hits to pick up the win. The two clubs will meet again in Minooka in a 11th Annual WJOL/Don Ladas Memorial Invitational quarterfinal at 1:30 on Thursday. The PBR’s Drake Skleba will begin the PBR’s coverage of the superb Will County baseball tournament, which concludes Saturday, April 4 at 7:30 with the Championship Game at Silver Cross Stadium, in Joliet.   

No. 16 Alton 10, Bethalto Civic Memorial 0 (6 innings) 0 Game One
It was the Bryan Hudson Show at Gordon Moore Stadium in Alton on Saturday. The 6-foot-8 Missouri-bound Hudson (3-0) fired a six-inning no-hitter at Civic Memorial, struck out 14 and hammered two monster blasts to lead the Redbirds to victory. Steve Nguyen had two singles and also plated four Redbird runs. The bombs were No. 2 and 3 for Hudson who now has 11 RBI. Hudson improved to 3-0 on the mound with a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings with 29 strikeouts and 3 walks. A strong candidate for the first Porsche Player of the Week.  

No. 16 Alton 5, Bethalto Civic Memorial 0 Game 2
Alton (6-0) blanked Civic Memorial in game two, as five Redbird pitchers combined on the five- hit shutout with 15 punchouts. Nick Cauley went the first three innings allowing a hit and struck out seven to pick up the win. Drake Hampton singled, doubled and had two RBI while Bryan Hudson doubled and drove home a Redbird run.  

No. 32 Benet Academy 7, Sterling 0
Benet Academy (2-2) blanked the Golden Warriors behind a combined two-hit shutout from five Redwing pitchers. Evansville-bound John Kruppe (1-0), fired four shutout innings allowing one hit and striking out three, to pick up the win. Junior Connor Hayes hammered a solo-shot for the Redwings and Lee Barnes chipped in with a single, double and an RBI.

No. 39 Normal West 6. Lincoln 2
Normal West (5-2) came back home after a successful Alabama Gulf Coast Spring Trip and rolled past the Railsplitters behind UIC-bound Reid Birlingmair. Birlingmair (3-0) allowed one run in his six solid innings on the mound allowing six hits and fanning eight. The future Flame had three hits, knocking home one Wildcat run. SIU-bound catcher Mitch Fairfield came up with a clutch two-run single for West.

No. 40 Moline 8, Machesney Park Harlem 0
Moline (4-0) blasted the Huskies behind Austin Peay-bound Brett Newberg. Newberg allowed two hits in his six shutout innings to pick up the win on the mound. Newberg (2-0) had eight strikeouts and two walks. The future Governor drove home all the runs he would need, when he hammered a three-run homer for the Maroons.

No. 45 Naperville Central 12, Marengo 1
Naperville Central (1-0) scored 12 times in the fourth inning, breaking apart a scoreless tie with the Indians and winning its season-opener at Lenz Field in Jacksonville. Brett Kappleman, doubled and drove in three, while Billy Oliver singled home a pair in the 12-run fourth. Bobby McMillan hammered a solo-shot for the RedHawks.

No. 45 Naperville Central 3, Fremd 1

Naperville Central (2-0) slipped past the Vikings for its second win of the day in Jacksonville. Dan Veles’ RBI single in the fourth put the Redhawks up 2-1 up to stay. Bobby McMillan had a double and an RBI and Glen Kozlowski (1-0) and Ryan Eiermann combined for a three-hitter. Kozlowski threw the first four innings allowing an unearned run and two hits while Eiermann nailed down the save with three scoreless innings.

No. 50 Mahomet-Seymour 12, Urbana 2
Mahomet-Seymour (1-0) rolled past the Tigers behind freshman Brooks Coetzee and Kyle Schum. Coetzee hit two doubles and drove home two Bulldog runs while Schum added two singles and two RBI. Alex Jackson chipped in with a single and two RBI. Junior Tom Kenney (1-0) allowed two runs and one in his four innings on the mound to pick up the win. Jackson fired two scoreless innings allowing one hit with three strikeouts. Kenney had seven strikeouts.  

Aurora Central Catholic 8, Somonauk 3
Aurora Central Catholic (4-0) rolled to its fourth consecutive victory to open up the 2015 campaign. John Belskis led the Charger attack with three hits. While Jake Smith and Jimmy Laurenti chipped in with two. Freshman Sean Sinisko (1-0) picked up the Charger win on the mound in relief.
Bartonville Limestone 7, Machesney Park Harlem
Bartonville Limestone (3-0) roll past the Huskies behind Tanner Rhoades and Austin Wood. Rhoades had a pair of singles and two RBI while Wood singled and also had two RBI for the Rockets. Bryce Meyer (1-0) allowed an unearned run and four hits in his four scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Breese Central 11, Wood River 6 (Game One)
Breese Central (1-2) trailed 6-1 before exploding for seven fourth-inning runs to roll to the Cougars first win of 2015. Brandon Richter had three hits, including two doubles and drove home two runs, to lead the Cougar attack. Mitch Rule was 2-for-2 with two singles and an RBI and while Jake Streker singled, doubled and drove home a Cougar run.

Breese Central 7, Wood River 2
Breese Central (2-2) scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth to sweep past Wood River, in game two. Dillon Smith singled doubled and plated a pair of runs for the Cougars. Carter Truong went 6.2 innings allowing no earned runs and one hit to pick up the win. Trung had 10 punchouts for Breese Central.

Burlington Central 15, Aquinas Institute (FL) 0
Burlington Central (2-0) crushed its Sunshine State hosts behind Jake Johnson who had three RBI for the Rockets with two doubles. Andy Laubner had two singles and two RBI while Tanner Smith single, doubled, scored three runs and drove home two to lead the Rocket attack. Parker Baron (1-0) and Brendan Bushy combined for a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts,   

Chatham Glenwood 2, Normal Community 1 (Game One)
Chatham Glenwood’s (3-0) Ben Trask went deep with a Titan aboard and Jake Maton (2-0), Karson Aherin and Ryan McAvoy combined on a two-hit shutout at South Park in Chatham. Maton allowed one hit in his four-innings of work while Aherin fired two hitless innings. McAvoy put the tying runs on in the seventh with a double and a walk before ending the game with a flourish, striking out the last Ironman batter. Jackson Bronke went the distance for Normal Community (1-2) allowing two runs and two hits with eight strikeouts.

Chatham Glenwood 2, Normal Community 1  (8 innings) (Game Two)
Chatham Glenwood (4-0) tied game two in the bottom of the sixth and then won it in the eighth to sweep away Normal Community (1-3) on Saturday. In the sixth, Andrew Banaitas RBI single to left plated Bryce Rooney (3-for-4, RBI) to tie the game 1-1. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Jake Maton singled. Rooney followed with a single to center which was misplayed by the centerfielder, allowing Maton to race home with the Titan game-winner and set off a celebration all over South Park.

Chicago Christian 14, Reed-Custer 0
Chicago Christian (7-0) crushed the Comets in five innings in Braidwood. Dan Vos pitched and hit the Knights past R-C. Vos (2-0) allowed three hits in his three scoreless innings to pick up the win on the mound. Vos had two singles and three RBI to lead the Knight onslaught. Josh Hill doubled and drove home three runs while Zach Freiling had three singles, three runs scored and plated a Knight run.

Chicago Christian 11, Rockford Christian 6
Chicago Christian (8-0) won a slugfest with the previously unbeaten Royal Lions on Saturday. Knight junior Trevor Wolterink, led the Knight onslaught with two singles and three RBI. Sophomore Tyler Edgar had two doubles and plated a pair of Knight runs. Junior Adam Schoenle (2-0) allowed a run and three hits in his three innings of work on the mound to pick up the win. Rockford Christian (6-1) scored five times in the first inning behind Bryan Truitt who doubled home three Royal Lion runs.   

Downers Grove North 3, Wheaton North 2
Downers Grove North (2-0) slipped past the Falcons in Wheaton. Paul Cappetta’s sac-fly tied the game at 2-2 and Jake Stevenson’s clutch two-out RBI single provided the eventual game-winner in the top of the sixth. Ryan Andres (1-0 went the distance for the Trojans allowing no earned runs and just six hits. Andrews struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Dunlap 10, Rock Island 6
Dunlap (2-1) rolled past the Rocks behind Luke Mangeri and Evan Fairfield. Mangeri singled, homered and drove home three runs while Fairfield, chipped in with a pair of singles and two RBI for the Eagles. Caleb Ingles tripled home a run for Dunlap.  

Fenwick 1, Marengo 0
Fenwick (1-0) blanked the Indians behind Kevin Forde. Forde (1-0) allowed just two hits in his spotless six-inning stint on the mound for the Friars, to pick up the win. Forde had 11 punchouts. In the bottom of the sixth of a scoreless battle, Forde doubled to left scoring Jack Hendricks, who had led off the Friar sixth with a double to right. Friar closer Jon Kagen entered in the top of the seventh and was greeted by a leadoff single by Marengo’s Kyle Alt. Alt was sacrificed to second and attempting to steal third with two outs, was gunned down on a perfect throw from Friar catcher Justin Rodriguez (2-for-3) to third baseman Mike Kresek, who put the tag on Alt, to end this thriller.  

Fenwick 5, Morris 4
Drama at Lenz Field in Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon. After tying the contest at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth, with a RBI single, Fenwick’s Quinn Snarskis stepped to the plate with the bases full of Friars and nobody out, in the bottom of the seventh. Snarskis once again came through, dropping a single into center scoring Jay Militello with the Friar game-winner. Militello led off the inning reaching on an error. Fenwick (2-0) trailed 4-1 when Joe Stehlik went deep with a Friar aboard, to pull Fenwick within 4-3. Militello (1-0), relieved Friar starter Joe Kagan (6 ip, 2er, 9h, 4k,1bb) in the top of the seventh, firing a scoreless inning in relief to pick up the win. Tyler Bordner doubled and had two RBI for Morris (4-2).

Morris 14, Walther Christian 1

Morris (4-1) routed the Broncos at Lenz Field in Jacksonville, behind the booming bat of Tyler Bordner. Bordner went 4-for-4 with a single, two doubles and a bomb and plated six Redskin runs. Matt Walker was on base four times with three singles and a walk and had three RBI. Emitt Chiounard (1-0) picked up the win on the mound with five solid innings and Colton Acre wrapped up the game with two scoreless innings. 

Montini 13, Northside College Prep 5
Montini (3-0) scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning in Lombard and never looked back. Reed Taylor and Nick Malik had identical stat lines; each had three hits, including a double, two runs scored and three RBI to lead the Bronco attack. Anthony Vosiky chipped in with a 2-for-2day with two RBI.

Morton 8, Glenbard East 5
Morton (5-0) ripped past Glenbard East (2-1), behind Kevin Smith and Adam Christenson. Smith, who had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, doubled and drove home three runs while
Christanson also went 3-for-3  with  double and plated two Potter runs. Dan Bolt also had a perfect day at the plate for Morton, going 2-for-2, with a double and drove home two runs.

Nashville 7, Freeburg 4
Nashville (3-2) opened up a 7-0 lead after four innings and withstood a furious Midget rally to win in Freeburg. Jaris Dahlman, Ryan Brink and Cody Bauza all plated two Hornet runs. Dylan Mueller, went the distance allowing four runs and six hits to pick up the victory for Nashville.

Nashville 5, Metro-East Lutheran 1
Nashville (4-2) trailed ME-L 1-0, before scoring twice in the fifth on a booming two-run double by Brady Bultman and went on to win its second game of the day. Bultman would hammer another two-run double in the three-run Hornet seventh. Troy Pedtke went the distance for Nashville firing a five-hitter with six strikeouts.  

Freeburg 9, Metro East Lutheran 1
Freeburg (2-1) crushed ME-L behind Derrick Rozycke and Mike Smith. Rozycke had two singles and two RBI while Smith singled, doubled and drove home two Midget runs. Luke Yaekel allowed one run and six hits in his solid six-innings on the mound to pick up the win.

Fremd 9, Glenbard North 2
Fremd (2-2) gained a split for the day in Jacksonville hammering the Panthers behind Ian Bohn. Bohn had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate with a single, double and a triple and driving home three Viking runs. Danny Pinderski allowed one earned run and five hits in his five innings on the mound to pick up the win. Pinderski had six strikeouts.

Plainfield  Central 8, De La Salle 7
Plainfield Central (4-0) won a wild won at home in Plainfield on Saturday. The Wildcats opened up a 6-0 lead after four innings, only to see De La Salle (0-3) score seven times in the top of the fifth, to grab a 7-6 lead. Kyle MacFarlane (3-for-3, 3RBI) ripped a line single to left scoring Danny Brandon, who had led off the innings with a single, tying the game at 7-7, in the bottom of the fifth. Jimmy Layne (1-0) shut the door on the Meteors in the sixth and seventh and picked up the win on the mound when a Meteor defensive miscue allowed Josh Tesch (1-for-2,R, 2RBI) to  scamper home with the Wildcat walk-off game winner, triggering a wild victory celebration on Fort Beggs Drive in Plainfield.

Plainfield East 8, East Aurora 1
Plainfield East (1-1) crushed the Tomcats behind Mike Sullivan and Drew DeMumbrum. Sullivan singled doubled and plated three for the Bengals while DeMumbrum had two singles a double and two RBI. Mitch Koran (1-0) allowed an unearned run and six hits in his four innings on the mound to pick up the win. Nick Followell slammed the door on East Aurora (0-1) over the last three innings allowing just one it.

Plainfield South 6, West Aurora 2
Plainfield South (1-0) scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth, to break open its season-opener in Plainfield, with the Blackhawks. Marco Escobar had a single and two RBI for the Cougars while sophomore Nick Mayerhofer and Austin Male each had two singles and an RBI. University of Iowa-bound Shane Ritter (1-0) allowed one hit, one walk and struck out six in three innings to pick up the win. Sophomore Austin Marozas and Sam Sauter each fired a hitless inning in relief with two strikeouts.

St. Francis 13, Loyola 3
St. Francis (2-0) crushed the Ramblers of the Chicago Catholic League Blue behind Mike Beach and Jake Radel, in Wilmette on Saturday. Beach had two singles, a bomb and drove home four runs while Radel singled, homered and also drove home four Spartan runs. Nick Dama and Foster Heise each singled and had two RBI for St. Francis. Loyola (2-1) was led by Jake Frank who singled and drove home three Rambler runs.

United Township 5, Pekin 2
United Township (3-2) rolled past the Dragons behind Dakota Johnson and Taylor Lopez. Johnson singled, went deep and plated a pair of UT runs. Lopez added a pair of singles and two RBI. Louis Hill scattered 11 hits in his complete-game victory.
United Township, 3, Pekin 1
United Township (4-2) held off the Dragons for a twin-bill sweep in Pekin, on Saturday. Logan McDaniel led East Moline with a single and two RBI, while Devin Wessels fired a four-hitter with six strikeouts. The Dragon run was unearned.

Vernon Hills 6, Richmond-Burton 5 (13 innings)
Vernon Hills (4-2) outlasted the Rockets in 13 innings on Saturday in Vernon Hills. In the bottom of the 13th Justin Falk’s RBI single plated Jack Duffley, who had reached on an error to open up the VH 13th, with the game-winner. Connor McNamara had three singles, scored two runs and drove one in to lead the Cougar attack.  

Washington (IL) 7, Granite City 0
Washington (2-0) blanked the Warriors behind Cole Cook (1-0), who fired five scoreless innings for the Panthers with five strikeouts and two walks. To say the Panthers ran wild on the basepaths, would be an understatement: 14 Panther stolen bases, six of them by Christian Dominguez who singled and had an RBI. Alex Hilegonds had a pair of hits and an RBI and pilfered two bases. Jimmy McGaughey chipped in with one hit and one RBI.

Washington 3, Granite City 0  
Washington (3-0) swept away the Warriors (3-4) in game two, behind a combined shutout from Shane Semlow and Austin Ulick. Semlow (1-0) fired six scoreless innings with two strikeouts and two walks to pick up the win and Ulick nailed down the save with a scoreless seventh with one strikeout. Christian Dominguez’s triple in the top of the sixth broke a scoreless tie and plated the first Panther run of the game. Dominguez stole two more bases in game two. For the day Christian was 3-for-3 with two RBI and a whopping eight stolen bases.

Waterloo 10, Athens 0
Waterloo (3-0) blanked Athens behind a two-hit shutout by Corey Vogel. Vogel fanned nine and walked one for the Bulldogs. Cole Milam had two singles, scored two runs and drove home two to lead the Bulldog attack. Brett Degener doubled and plated a pair while Noah Thaggard chipped in with a single and an RBI. 

Waubonsie Valley 5, York 0

Waubonsie Valley (1-0) blanked the Dukes, behind six scoreless innings from Brandon Peterson (1-0). Peterson was lights-out for the Warriors allowing one hit and striking out nine. Luke Marzano took complete-care of the Warrior attack with a 4-for-4 day with a double and four RBI. Ryan Jones chipped in with a solo-shot for WV.
