Several prospects have named their colleges recently. A look at who’s going where:

+ Clay Shourd, a RHP from Springfield HS, has committed to Miami Ohio. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Shourd was one of the top prospects at the PBR Illinois Unsigned Senior Showcase in August, when he sat 87-89 mph with his fastball with hard arm-side life from a three-quarter slot. He also showed a sharp 73-75 mph slider.

+ Andrew Owen, a RHP from Loyola Academy HS, has committed to Villanova. The 6-foot, 175-pound Owen sat 86-88 at the PBR Preseason All-State Showcase in February, and was clocked at 90 mph from the outfield. Owen is currently ranked No. 67 in Illinois’ 2014 class.

+ Patrick Peterson, a RHP from Benet Academy HS, has committed to Dartmouth. The 6-foot, 170-pound Peterson was one of the summer’s bigger risers, as we’ve seen him 85-88 mph on multiple occasions. Peterson is currently ranked No. 86 in Illinois’ 2014 class.

+ INF Mike Wisz, an INF from Lemont HS, has committed to the University of Houston. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Wisz proved in the summer to be one of the better offensive infielders in Illinois’ 2014 class. Wisz marks the third Division 1 recruit on Lemont’s roster, joining C Mike Papierski and LHP Jake Latz, who are both committed to LSU.

+ Cale Hennemann, a left-handed hitting middle infielder from Pawnee HS, has committed to Eastern Illinois.

+ Another Class of 2015 prospect is off the board. Austin Warrem, a LHP/OF from Mattoon HS, has committed to Eastern Illinois. The 6-foot, 170-pound Warrem recently showed well at the PBR Class of 2015 Showcase in July, when he demonstrated a solid three-pitch mix, including a 78-81 mph fastball. Warrem is currently ranked No. 81 in Illinois’ 2015 class.

+ Lewis University landed a pair of prospects when it received commitments from 3B/OF Ethan Bloom (Hoffman Estates HS) and RHP Eric Luecht.

+ Quincy University landed two prospects when it received commitments from MIF Casey Danley (Washington HS) and left-handed hitting 1B/OF Matt Hilmes (Carlyle HS). The 6-foot, 170-pound Danley, who’s ranked No. 151 in Illinois’ 2014 class, ran a 6.78 60 at a PBR event last year.
