ALGONQUIN, IL- On a cloudy and cold day that gave way to rain in later innings, Jacobs defeated McHenry 8-2.

The game pitted No. 6 ranked 2016 Brenden Heiss of Jacobs against No. 7 ranked 2017 Bobby Miller of McHenry. Heiss was electric in his start working six innings allowing just two hits, two walks, and striking out eight. Heiss sat 92-93 mph early in his outing reaching as high as 94 mph. The separator for Heiss is his ability to hold velocity through his outing, still hitting 94 in the third and touching 92 mph in the sixth. To go along with his fastball he featured a curveball that showed 12-6 shape with occasional 11-5 at 76-78 mph that buckled a few hitters. To go along with his eight strikeouts Heiss assisted on five other putouts.

Miller, a Louisville commit, worked anywhere from 85-89 mph in his 3.1 innings of work. Mike Addante, a Nebraska commit was the leader at the plate for Jacobs going 2-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

Jacobs improves to 16-10 on the season and McHenry falls to 16-10 on the year. Both teams matchup with East Suburban Catholic teams tomorrow as Jacobs plays at St. Viator and McHenry hosts Carmel.
