Throughout the week we will bring you a quick preview as to what to look for out of the participating teams. Today we highlight the Reds Scout Team.

The Reds Scout Team covers the widest geographical area spanning from Minnesota to Michigan, Nebraska to Indiana and everywhere in between. Reds Scout Team is comprised primarily of 2016 graduates with aspirations of being draft prospects. Many of the players on the roster are considered top ten prospects in their respective states, but more than just that, the Reds Scout Team features six prospects in the top 50 of our 2016 overall rankings.

C Cooper Johnson (Carmel HS, IL, Mississippi) highlights the roster, but the No. 5 prospect in our overall rankings is still with Team USA in Japan after making the 18u roster earlier this summer. Johnson has emerged this summer as quite possibly the best defensive high school catcher in the country. Johnson has made his rounds on the summer circuit, capped off recently with his performance at the Under Armour All-American game at Wrigley Field.

Another participant in the Under Armour All-American game, RHP Brenden Heiss (Jacobs HS, IL, Arkansas) comes in at No. 18 overall. Heiss has been a known commodity since heading into his junior year when he touched 95 mph at the PBR Future Games.

Also featured in the top 50 of the PBR Overall Rankings is RHP/3B Cal Coughlin (Lake Forest HS, IL, TCU) at No. 31. Coughlin has showed two-way abilities on the diamond with a fastball sitting in the low 90s.

The Reds roster also has a mix of 2017 graduates sprinkled in. RHP/1B Jimmy Ramsey (Minnetonka HS, MN, uncommitted) stands atop this group, at 6-foot-7, 220-pounds and ranked No. 28 in the overall 2017 rankings. Ramsey runs his fastball into the upper 80s and boasts a big left-handed bat with easy power. OF Brad Czerniejewski (Lake Forest HS, IL, TCU), C Adam Proctor (St. John’s HS, MI, Michigan State) and LHP Brendan Murphy (Mundelein HS, IL, uncommitted) also rank in the top 150 of the 2017 overall rankings.
