NEW LENOX – No. 10 Providence Catholic enjoyed senior day, scoring six unanswered runs to defeat Loyola Academy 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Senior second baseman Mike Madej, a Purdue recruit, delivered the hit of the game, a two out, two-run triple to right-center field, tying the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Parkland commit, Jackson Stulas followed up with a line-drive single to center, scoring Madej and giving the Celtics a 4-3 lead after four. Providence Catholic (21-7) would tack on a run in the fifth and sixth, ultimately giving them the 6-3 victory.

Right-handed pitcher Connor Hilty came out of the bullpen in the top of the fourth inning for the Celtics and shut down the Loyola Academy offense for the final four innings. Hilty gave up no runs, scattered two-hits, struck out two hitters and walked no one.

Loyola Academy (16-13) got off to a hot start scoring a run in the first inning and two in the second. Consecutive doubles by Creighton recruit, Jack Lombardi and Thomas Smart to lead off the game, led to a quick one-run lead for the Ramblers. In the second, Catcher Brian Vance delivered an RBI single and Lombardi hit a sacrifice fly, giving Loyola a 3-0 lead heading to the third inning.
