NEW LENOX, IL – No. 19 Homewood-Flossmoor (2-1) led 4-0 when No. 26 Lincoln-Way West exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a grand-slam home run to right field by junior outfielder Tyler Dallio on Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Lincoln-Way West. In a game originally scheduled to be played at HF, but moved due to field conditions, the Warriors eventually won 9-5.

In the fateful third facing against Homewood-Flossmoor co-ace Malcolm Grady (Wabash Valley signee), senior catcher Bailey Magruder (1-for-3, 3 RBI, walk) got the Warriors on the board with a big two-run double. After a walk loaded the bases, Dallio (2-for-3, 4 RBI) lifted a fly ball down the line to right field to give the Warriors a 6-4 advantage.

Senior southpaw Trevor Dallio, Tyler’s older brother, (Rose-Hulman signee) earned the win on the mound for Warriors striking out eight in four innings, allowing three hits, four runs, with four walks. Lincoln-Way West righthander Dave Mulder allowed one run in his three solid innings of relief, to pick up the save. He struck out three with no walks. Matt Monahan chipped in for Lincoln-Way West (4-0) with three singles and an RBI.

The Vikings (1-1) jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a three-run third inning. Senior shortstop Jonathan Brandt led off with a hard single to right-field. After senior catcher Jesse Forestell reached on a walk, junior first baseman Bryce Gray launched a two-RBI line shot triple to over the Warriors’ center fielder. A balk scored Gray to give the Vikings there last lead.

Despite being chased after three innings, Grady impressed a throng of professional scouts in attendance with a fastball touching 92 mph. He struck out three, walked three, and all six runs in the third were unearned, thanks to a dropped fly ball in front of home plate at the beginning of the inning. All nine Warrior runs in the contest were unearned, thanks to three Vikings errors allowing for extended innings.
