PBR 13u Prospects Games: Scout Notes

Below is a compilation of scouting notes throughout the PBR 13u Prospects Games from April 21 - April 23…

TT Nationals

  • (#9) Nick Kolze - Projectable right-handed pitcher and first baseman with a lanky frame. On the mound, In line direction with a square landing. Fastball sat 71-73 mph. Curveball, 59-60 mph. Offensively, right-handed, tall setup, slightly closed, patient at the plate.

  • (#29) Jacob Sitterly - RHP/1B with a strong frame. On the mound, above average arm speed from a high ¾ slot. Strike thrower. Fastball sat 70-72 mph. Curveball, sweeping action, 61-63 mph.

  • (#42) Jackson Lamboley - Right-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher with a lean, athletic frame. Balanced setup, long bat path. Showed ability to use entire field tripling to right-center field and doubling to left-center. Athletic baserunner, aggressive on the base paths. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, short arm action, over-the-top slot. Fastball sat 64-66 mph, touching 69. Curveball, 11/5 shape, gradual break, 57 mph. Made two appearances on Sunday.  

  • (#4)  Ryan Louthan - Left-handed hitting two-way player, athletic build, made two appearances on the mound Sunday. Right-handed pitcher, works from a high ¾ arm slot, short arm action. Fastball, run action, sat 70-72 in both games. Curveball, 11/5 shape, tight break, showed command of pitch, 61-63 mph.

Demarini Black

  • (#14) Jayden Cummings - Athletic, right-handed hitting shortstop. Advanced speed for his age. Defensively, ¾ arm slot, soft hands and quick footwork. Offensively, hits from an open setup with a level path and some looseness in swing.

  • (#17) Julian Hachem - Left-handed pitcher with some projectability. Drop and drive delivery, uptempo. Short arm action from a high ¾ angle. Fastball sat 64-67 mph.

  • (#22) Jack Flagg - Right-handed pitcher, works from a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat 59-60 mph. Offensively, right-handed, balanced setup, short stride, stays on the ball, maintains balance through swing.

Springfield Pride

  • (#4) Joseph Crum - Right-handed hitter with a strong, athletic frame. Balanced setup, level path through the zone.

  • (#9) Nolan Decker - Tall, wiry first baseman. Balanced setup, gets on the plate, smooth load back, short stride. Gap-to-gap approach, compact swing. Barreled a single up the middle against a quality arm.

  • (#55) Evan Christison - Physical corner infielder and right-handed pitcher, strong lower half.

  • (#24) Teddy Hobson - Left-handed pitcher, works from a ¾ arm slot. Fastball, run and fade action, 66-68 mph. Changeup, flashed fade, 61-63 mph. Curveball, sweeping action, 56-60 mph. Showed feel for all three pitches. Kept hitters guessing by mixing in all three pitches. Offensively, showed ability to go opposite field and is aggressive on basepaths, stretching a single into a double in an at-bat.

TT Navy

  • (#23) Osvaldo Ballesteros - Projectable RHP/C with an athletic frame. On the mound, smooth rhythm, in line direction, square landing. Short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 70-74 mph, touching 76. Also showed above average arm strength behind the plate.

  • (#5) David Andolina - RHP with some projectability. Slow rhythm in delivery, athletic finish. Arm action is short from a high ¾ angle. Fastball, arm-side run, sat 69-71 mph.

  • (#7) Jorgie Vazquez - Athletic SS/RHP. On the mound, drop and drive delivery, in line direction. Above average arm speed for his age. Fastball sat 68-70 mph. Curveball was 60-62 mph. Instinctive movements defensively, made nice diving play. Offensively, good approach, moxie in the box and leg-kick timing trigger.

  • (#13) Alex Mendez - Right-handed pitcher, tall, lanky-frame, long arm action.  Fastball sat 68-70 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, commanded pitch, showed good feel. Consistently threw strikes. Offensively, tall, slightly open setup, loose hands, drove pitches to the opposite field.

Cangelosi

  • (#3)Jack Lausch - RHP/C with a tall, lanky frame. Projects well on the mound. Short arm action from a high ¾ arm angle. Stays on-line with home plate and finishes athletically. Fastball sat 69-72 mph. Curveball was clocked at 65 mph. At the plate, left-handed hitter, slightly closed setup, some looseness in swing.
  • (#11) Nick Daugherty - SS/RHP with an athletic frame. Hits from an open setup. Line drive approach, showed an ability to find barrel. Flashed quickness on the base paths. On the mound, has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot, closed landing. Fastball sat 68-70 mph.
  • (#13) George Bilecki - LHP. Works from a ¾ arm slot, good balance, lands square, finishes athletically. Fastball, arm-side run, 65-67 mph. Slider, sweeping action, 55-57 mph.

Zepp

  • (#5) Avery Osusu-Asiedo - 6-foot-2, 195-pound, 1B/OF/RHP with a strong, physically advanced frame for his age. At the plate, right-handed hitter, balanced setup with an uphill path and flashed bat speed.
  • (#6) Keshun Nelson - Left-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher. Tall setup with a short path. Above average bat speed for his age. Showed pull-side power on a home run to right-center. On the mound, ¾ arm slot, works across body. Fastball, cut action, 65-67 mph. Slider, sweeping action, 57 mph.
  • (#19) Tristian Ellis - Athletic left-handed hitting middle-infielder. Line drive hitter with an opposite field approach. Showed good range at shortstop with fluid footwork. Above average arm strength across the diamond.
  • (#18) Sam Meidenbauer  - Tall, athletic middle infielder, projectable body type. Offensively, right-handed, tall, slightly open setup, smooth rhythm. Aggressive approach, instinctive, loose hands. Had two extra base hits in the game Friday night. Aggressive on the base paths.
  • (#7) Matthew Brissette - RHP, over-the-top arm slot, long, wrapping arm action, works across body, lands toe-closed, falls off first base side. Fastball, down in the zone for strikes, commanded well, 69-71 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, gradual break, some feel.
  • (#29) Alexander Stille - Lanky frame with room for continued growth. Hit an opposite field home run.

Demarini White

  • (#14) Ethan  - Left-handed hitter with an average frame. Balanced setup, leg lift timing trigger. Hard contact to the pull-side.

  • (#9) Rosas - Right-handed hitter with an open setup, toe tap trigger. Gap-to-gap approach. Hit a triple to the wall in right-center.

  • (#6) Dagustino - Right-handed pitcher, works from a low ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat 62-63 mph. Curveball, sweeping action, showed good feel for, 55-57 mph.

Prairie Gravel

  • (#00) Adam Borror - Right-handed hitting catcher with a strong lower half. Offensively, slightly open setup, short stride. Hit a home run to dead center. Defensively, accurate, strong arm, clean footwork and transfers, above-average receiver. Moves well for size, threw a runner out at third from his knees.

  • (#9) Zander Buchan - Right-handed hitting third baseman with a strong, athletic frame.

  • (#17) Drew Stultz - Balanced setup with a short stride. Showed above average speed with two stolen bases. Right-handed pitcher, ¾ arm slot, gets downward plane on his fastball which sat 68-71 mph. Curveball, varied between 11/5 and 10/4 shapes, 52-59 mph.

  • (#20) Christian Holmes - Athletic middle infielder, above-average arm strength across the diamond, accurate.

Naperville Renegades

  • (#11) Ethan Kaiman - Projectable RHP/3B with a lanky frame. On the mound, tall and fall delivery, smooth rhythm, on-line direction. Short arm action from a high ¾ angle. Fastball sat 70-73 mph. Curveball, had 11/5 shape, sat 56-59 mph. At the plate, hits from a balanced setup, strides open. Long, level bat path.
  • (#42) Jack Osta - Right-handed hitting first baseman with some strength. Showed good feel at defensively at first base. Offensively, balanced setup, long path. Showed off strength in bat with an RBI double to deep centerfield.
  • (23) Jacob Scharm - Right-handed hitting infielder with a lanky frame. Plenty of room for physical development. Slightly open setup with a level path through the zone.

TT Americans

  • (#12) Ethan Patera - Projectable right-handed pitcher and first baseman. On the mound, worked from the stretch only. Some effort in delivery, shoulders tend to open early. Long arm action from a high ¾. Made two appearances. Fastball, arm-side-run action, downward plane, sat 75-77 mph on Saturday, 77-79 mph on Sunday. Advanced slider for his age, was 60-64 mph, thrown for strikes. Fielded the pitcher position well. Offensively, hit an opposite field home run to help his own cause.

  • (#14) Jack Scheri - Highly athletic SS/RHP, intelligent player. Defensively, plays through the ball, loose, easy arm action. Offensively, right-handed, short stride, smooth load, loose hands. Clean and quick runner on the base paths. On the mound, long, quick arm action, ¾ slot. Fastball sat 70-72 mph. Fields the position well.

  • #27 Athletic, lanky RHP. Toe lands closed. Long arm action from a high ¾ angle. Fastball sat 72-74 mph on Saturday. Athletic at the plate, tall setup, barreled the ball up consistently.  

  • (#00) Alex Alberico - Athletic right-handed pitcher. Tall and fall delivery, on-line direction. Short arm action, high ¾ arm slot. Made two appearances, fastball sat 71-73 mph on Saturday, 74-75 on Sunday. Curveball, 11/5 shape, showed feel, sat 61-63 mph. At the plate, balanced setup. Showed power potential with a double and home run.

  • (#45) Luke Adams - RHP, confident on the mound, works on-line, lands toe-closed, finishes upright. Made two appearances, fastball sat 67-69 mph on Saturday, 70-71 on Sunday. Curveball, 10/4 shape, showed good feel, 57-58 mph. Threw both pitches for strikes, worked down in the zone. High energy, sprinted on and off the mound. Offensively, advanced strength for his age. Tall setup, strides towards where the pitch is thrown. Hit an opposite field home run.

  • (#34) Michael Ascencio - RHP, over-the-top arm slot, works across body, finishes falling off towards first base. Made two appearances, Fastball, run action, 70-72 mph on Saturday, 71-73 on Sunday. Curveball, varied between a 10/4-11/-5 shape, tight spin, 58-60 mph. Showed off a quick, jump, pick-off move to first.

Strikes Baseball

  • (#11) Miles Kirk - Right-handed hitting catcher. Showed quick feet behind the plate with above average arm strength for his age.

  • (#99) Joe Nieslawski - Left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Strong contact on an RBI double. Above average runner. On the mound, works from a ¾ arm slot with a long arm action. Fastball sat 59-61 mph. Curveball, sweeping action, showed good feel for, 52-56 mph.

Lake in the Hills

  • (#00) Nico Acevedo - Right-handed hitting catcher. Hits from a slightly open setup. Ability to find barrel, multiple hits each game including a double off a 74 mph fastball.

  • (#13) Daniel Cruz - Tall, lanky first baseman. Plenty of room for physical development. Offensively, balanced setup, Strength through contact, power potential.

TT North

  • (#2) Ferdinand Centeno - Athletic RHP, works from ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat 63-65 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 56-59 mph. Showed off an impressive two-pitch combination, struck out the side in his first inning. Offensively, hit lead-off, balanced setup, short stride, loose hands. A menace on the basepaths, stealing and taking extra bases at will.

  • (#11) Anthony Martinez - LHP, ¾ arm slot. Fastball, 62-64 mph, arm-side run. Curveball, 2/8 shape, sweeping action, some feel, 53-54 mph.

  • (#18) Chappie Sartino - RHP, ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat 60-62 mph. Curveball, threw first pitch for a strike, 10/4 shape, gradual break, 54-57 mph.

ESP Red

  • (#4) - Tall, lanky frame. Short stride with a long, level path.

  • (#27) - Athletic frame. Opposite field approach, two singles to right-field.  Above average speed.

Demarini Grey

  • (#26) O’Connell - Left-handed hitting SS/3B. Defensively, showed off an above-average arm across the diamond with accuracy. Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, smooth rhythm, hit a triple to center field.   

  • (#27) Jennenga - RHP/C, short arm action, arm slot varied between over-the-top and high ¾. Fastball sat 62 mph, commanded the zone. Offensively, right-handed, hit an opposite field triple. Recorded a 2.68 pop time.

  • (#4) Grubisic - RHP, works from a ¾ arm slot. Fastball 62-64 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, gradual break, 53-58 mph.
