BARRINGTON, IL – In a Mid-Suburban West match-up, Palatine pulled out the come from behind victory with a five run rally in the fifth.

Both Barrington and Palatine traded runs in the first. The Pirates struck first after junior Nick Orlando scored on a throwing error in a first and third situation. Barrington answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning on a Daniel Kubiuk sacrifice fly scoring Shane Yorton.

Palatine followed up their first inning efforts with another run in the second. Brad Bauer got things started with a line drive double down the left field line. Sophomore outfielder Matthew Lamm then dropped down a beautiful bunt that starting pitching Wyatt Trautwein had no choice but to stick it in his pocket. With runners at the corners Andrew Bohlmann came through with a big RBI single to give the Pirates a 2-1 lead.

Palatine starter Nolan Gavin would hold the Broncos scoreless over the next two frames but in the fourth Barrington would rally to take their first lead of the game. With one out and Kubiuk on second after an error, Anthony Lombardi cam through with an RBI single to left, later followed by a double off the bat of Joey Sciaccotta.

Facing a 4-2 deficit the Pirates answered quickly in their top half of the fifth, chasing starter Wyatt Trautwein from the game with a five run rally to grab the 7-4 lead.

Just like the in the second, the bottom of the order did the damage for Palatine as Bauer and Bohlmann came up with the big hits again. This time Bauer got it started with a two out bases loaded single to left center that dropped just in front of a diving left fielder to tie the game at four. Two batters later with the bases loaded again Bohlmann drove a bases clearing double to the wall, collecting three RBI and the eventual game winner as Palatine starter Nolan Gavin kept the 7-4 lead in tact.
