Porsche Exchange Player of the Week: Prairie Ridge's Jordan Getzelman

By Sean Duncan

Jordan Getzelman, OF, Prairie Ridge HS, Class of 2013

Prairie Ridge junior outfielder Jordan Getzelman was in the zone last week. The athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound two-sport standout tallied 14 hits in 20 at-bats. Of those 14 hits, 10 went for extra bases.

All told, during Getzelman’s amazing seven-game stretch, he tallied five home runs, five doubles, 18 RBI and 15 runs scored. And he did most of his damage against Fox Valley Conference foes for the No. 22-ranked Wolves. All of which added up to being named the Porsche Exchange Player of the Week.

On consecutive games against Huntley, Getzeman combined to go 4-for-5 with three doubles, one home run, five RBI and three runs scored. He also torched Dundee-Crown in Prairie Ridge’s two-game set, going 6-for-7 with three home runs, two doubles and 10 RBI.

Perhaps an intentional walk was in order at some point, especially on Tuesday when he smashed two doubles, a homer, drove in six and scored four times.

“Jordan Getzelman is a leader on and off the field,” said Prairie Ridge coach Glen Pecoraro. “He demonstrates to all the players in our program how to conduct himself as a student/athlete. I can't imagine too many players in our area with better offensive numbers than Jordan this season.  Every ball he has hit in the past seven games has been hard.  Jordan is really seeing the ball well.”

Getzelman, who’s ranked No. 30 overall in the Class of 2013, was an impact performer for the Wolves as a sophomore last season, when he batted .459 with seven homers, nine doubles and 29 RBI. Getzelman was also the star running back on the football team, amassing more than 1,000 yards.

The Porsche Exchange salutes Getzelman for his hard work and success.
