St. Ignatius senior outfielder Dylan Gilbert has been named this week’s Porsche Exchange Player of the Week thanks to his outstanding performance at the plate last week for the Wolfpack.

Over a four game stretch last week, Gilbert, a Heartland CC commit, hit an astounding .750 against the likes of No. 4 Brother Rice, No. 16 St. Francis, Marmion and Loyola.

Against Marmion on Monday, Gilbert went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, RBI and two runs scored.

Gilbert then went 3-for-4, with a double, on Wednesday against No. 16 St. Francis.

In a loss to No. 4 Brother Rice on Thursday, Gilbert continued his onslaught going 3-for-4, four runs batted in, a home run and a two doubles.

Saturday, the Wolfpack defeated Loyola 4-2. Gilbert capped off his week going 2-for-4 with a homerun.

For the week, Gilbert went 12-for-16, two home runs, a triple, four doubles, seven runs, nine runs batted in and four stolen bases.

“Dylan continues to show, offensively and defensively that he's one of the best players in the state,” said St. Ignatius coach Sean Mason. “For the last few weeks he's barreled up everything to all fields. When he gets on one of these runs, he's really fun to watch.”

For his efforts, Gilbert has been named the Porsche Exchange Player of the Week for the week of April 10 – April 16.

The Porsche Exchange salutes Gilbert’s hard work and success.
