Recruiting Roundup: Who's Heading Where?

Evan Tenuta, RHP, Sandburg, 2018
Notre Dame

Evan TenutaFuture Games 2016 - 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, lean athletic frame. Quick, athletic arm from over-the-top slot. Fastball sat 87-88 mph, mostly straight and around the plate. Has steadily increased velocity over the last year; with his advanced arm speed and athleticism, more velocity likely to come as he fills into his frame. Worked predominately off his fastball at the Future Games. Flashed a curveball with 12/6 shape, inconsistent action, short break at 69-70 mph. Also mixed in mid-70s changeup. Yielded two hits in two innings work.

Derek Salata, RHP, Nazareth, 2018
Illinois State

Derek SalataFuture Games 2016 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed pitcher, sturdy-strong frame and broad shoulders. High-3/4 slot, short, clean arm action, minimal effort. Slow-tempo delivery, works downhill, repeats well.  Fastball sat 83-84 mph with occasional arm-side run; more velocity likely to come. Threw consistent strikes with his fastball. Curveball has early break, mostly 63-64 mph, around the plate with it. Changeup ranged between 76-78. Pitched two crisp innings at the Future Games.

Aidan Tyrell, LHP, Joliet Catholic, 2018
Notre Dame

Aidan TyrellFuture Games 2016 - 5-foot-11, 155-pound left handed pitcher, average frame. Worked exclusively from the stretch, upper body had tendency to lose its line. Short arm action over the top slot. Sharpened up in his second inning of work. Fastball sat 84-87 mph. Curveball played with short quick action on 1/7 plane, 70-72 mph. Struck out three in two perfect innings of work.



Sean Sinisko, LHP, Geneva, 2018
Illinois State

Sean SiniskoFuture Games 2016 - 6-foot-5, 230-pound left-handed pitcher; big, durable frame, wide shoulders with solid lower half. Works slightly across his body, arm slot ranges somewhere between 3/4 to a few ticks below, depending on the inning. Although inconsistent with the slot, the net result is he can create an uncomfortable at-bat. Fastball ranged between 82-85 mph with some arm-side sink when not underneath the baseball. Breaking ball sat 66-68 mph, inconsistent shape, more sweeping action, tendency to get underneath. Worked two effective innings at the Future Games.  

Drake Green, RHP, Quincy Senior, 2017

Parkland JC

 Drake Green2/14/16 - Large frame, thick build, durable setup, 6-foot-2, 210-ponud right-handed pitcher. Works with tempo and directional, squared landing, works straight down the hill. Arm action is short and over the top, showed arm speed. Fastball worked down, showed tilt, ranged 80-85 mph, worked better out of the stretch sitting 84-85 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, 65-69 mph with depth. Slider flashed sharp action, 10/4 plane, 73-75 mph. Showed feel for a changeup, 70-72 mph, with arm speed. Solid feel for four pitches, possible starter type projection.

Noel Rodriguez, OF, Lincoln Park, 2017
Dominican University

Noel Rodriguez6.16.16 - 5-foot-7, 135-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with an athletic frame. Above average runner in the 60 running a 6.91. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions and fluid footwork. Threw 77 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from wide base with a slightly open setup. Short stride with average balance. Long, uphill swing path. 74 mph exit velocity from a tee.


Justin Bauerschs, RHP, Trico, 2017
John A. Logan

Justin Bauersachs7/26/16 - Bauersachs is a 6-foot-4 190-pound switch-hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2017 class.  He ran a 7.78 60 and a 4.93 home-to-first.  He has an 86 mph positional velo. At the plate, balanced set from right side, no wasted movement in load, short stride, quick bat speed, power to middle and pull side of field, more pull approach from left side, loose hands, similar mechanics from both sides. On the infield, high three quarters release, arm works, clean and fluid with footwork and exchange, accurate throws, 82 mph positional velo. On the mound, he has a high three-quarters arm slot, quick arm, loose arm action, stays in line down the mound, throw with some effort, repeats delivery, fastball topped at 89 mph, sat 86-88 mph, some arm side run, sharp 11-to-5 breaking ball, 72-74 mph mostly, change up has fastball arm speed at 77-83 mph.  Tall and lean frame, good pitcher frame.

Colin Pfotenhauer, SS/RHP, Marist, 2017

Taylor University

Colin Pfotenhauer10.18.15 - Athletic build 6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Defensively, plays with some bounce on the infield. Reliable, soft hands, clean exchange and athletic fielding position. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, accurate and clocked at 82 mph. Offensively, cocks bat during pre-pitch load back. Balanced, open setup. Long stride and short bat path through the hitting zone. Line-drive approach at the plate. Registered an exit velocity of 85 mph. Also, ran a 7.52 laser-timed 60. On the mound, operates with a tall and fall delivery. Quick arm, smooth rhythm, loose arm action, out of a high ¾ window. On-line direction and athletic finish. Fastball mostly straight and sat 81-82 mph. Curveball worked 12/6, some depth, 67-68 mph. Changeup featured sink and ranged between 72-74 mph.

Zach Teegen, OF, Prairie Ridge, 2017
McHenry County JC

Zach Teegen6.16.16 - 6-foot-1, 200-pound, strong, squared shouldered, left-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively, flashed a short path and strength through contact; registered an 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. Wide setup, short heel-lift stride and minimal pre-pitch rhythm.  Defensively, steady hands in the outfield, arm works short, clean, from an over the top slot; throws flashed carry, true flight and clocked at 86 mph. Also, 7.11 runner in the 60, laser-timed.

Alex Skibba, RHP, Peoria Notre Dame, 2017
Parkland JC

Alex Skibba5.16.15 - Currently ranked No. 68 in Illinois’ 2017 class. Wiry thin 5-foot-10, 140-pound frame.  Overall competitive mound demeanor, attacks hitters with fastball-curveball combination. Athletic, whippy arm action, high-3/4 slot; effort in delivery, stabs down on backside. Fastball sat 82-84 in the first inning, touching 85 once. Settled in at 81-82 in the second inning. When delivery was synched up, fastball showed some arm-side run, but flattens out when up in the zone, which occurred in the second inning. Shows feel for curveball; throws the pitch aggressively in the 68-69 range.
