Recruiting Roundup: Who's Heading Where?

CLICK HERE to take a look at this week’s National Buzz. With that in mind, let’s take an in depth look at the Illinois prospects who have committed to colleges, with detailed scouting information.

Matthias Dietz and Jeff Hahs both members of the Illinois Class of 2014, who have been playing at John A. Logan College in Southern Illinois made their commitments this week. Dietz, who has been up to 98 mph this fall will continue his career at TCU, pending the 2016 MLB Draft. Hahs will continue his career at Campbell.

Nick Wisz, 1B, Lemont, 2016
Parkland College

Nick Wisz 3.30.15 - 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-handed hitting 1B/3B impresses with hit tool. Hits from a slightly open stance, stands off the plate, hands held high initially, load back/drop, squares up the baseball consistently, power to right center field. Grounded out to short, singled hard to right field, doubled deep to center, and hit by a pitch in four plate appearances. Wisz looked more comfortable defensively at first base (played second last year). Impressed last season with soft hands fielding the baseball, makes routine plays as a middle infielder, but due to size/quickness could end up being a well above average first baseman. Moved over to third base later in the game, has arm strength to play there. Advanced bat will be calling card, flat out hits.

Brendan Krob, C, Argo, 2016
Evansville University

Brendan Krob 8.7.15 - 5-foot-11, 185-pound, right-handed hitting catcher. Projects well at the next level. Hits from a wide setup, smooth load, with good approach. Level bat path, above average bat speed, with good rhythm in swing. In game Krob went 2-3 with a single and a homerun that cleared the 347ft fence.The only home run of the weekend in game play. Registered exit velocity of 89mph off the tee Ran a 4.61 home to first and a 7.37 60. Consistently boasted 1.93, 1.94 2.0 pop times. Threw 78mph from behind the plate. Showed good presence behind the plate, loose arm action with accuracy and carry on throws.

Max Franklin, RHP, St. Rita, 2016
Heartland Community College

Max Franklin 6/6/15 - Uncommitted 2016 prospect. Large frame. Average athlete, over the top arm slot, works slightly across body, heel strike landing. Fastball sat 85-87 mph, worked downhill at times, average control. Plus potential curveball, 73-75 mph, 12/6 plane, swing and miss type pitch.

Dylan Rusniak, OF, Brother Rice, 2016
UW-Oshkosh

Dylan Rusniak 8.7.15 - 5-foot 7, 155-pound, small frame left-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively, balanced setup, with short stride. Above-average bat speed, long uphill bat path with pull-side tendencies. Registered 84 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, plays through the ball, displayed quick, fluid footwork, has a long-arm action, with accurate throws. Threw 89 mph from the outfield. Ran a 4.51 home to first and a 7.2 60. In game play Rusniak went 1-3 with an inside the park home run to right center. Plays with a higher motor than most.
