Reitcheck, Prairie Ridge handle Jacobs

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL – After Prairie Ridge’s offense spotted Mike Reitcheck five runs in the second inning, all the sizzle from Monday’s Fox Valley matchup against Jacobs was removed from the game.

That is, except for the sizzle of Reitcheck’s fastball.

Behind Reitcheck’s dominant outing and one big inning, Prairie Ridge cruised to a 5-1 victory in the tough FVC Valley Division.

Reitcheck (6-1), a 5-foot-10, 180-pound University of Pennsylvania recruit, yielded one hit – a sixth-inning single – no earned runs, struck out six, and walked four in six innings work. His fastball sat at 88-89 mph through four innings, topping at 90 mph once.

Prairie Ridge (17-8, 8-5) put Jacobs (16-8, 8-6) away early by erupting for five hits in the second inning. Senior outfielder Bryan Klendworth, who’s one of the state’s hottest hitters, delivered the big blow with a two-run triple. The athletic 5-foot-11, 185-pound Klendworth is hitting .590 with seven homers, seven triples, seven doubles, 40 RBI and 18 stolen bases.

Senior third baseman Mike Hallstrom, who went 2-for-4, started the rally with a leadoff double. Senior first baseman Matt Furst also had a run-scoring single in the inning and finished with two hits, and junior left-handed hitting outfielder Austin Covers added an RBI single in the inning.

Complete prospect reports from the game will be posted on Wednesday at the Illinois Scouting Blog, including information on Jordan Getzelman, Klendworth, a mid-80s 6-foot-4 junior RHP, a high-ceiling sophomore, an athletic left-handed hitting outfielder, and more.
