Sneak Peek into the Prospect ID at Quarry Fieldhouse

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Illinois

On Monday, February 18th the Prep Baseball Report held a Prospect Identification Showcase at the Quarry Fieldhouse in Romeoville, IL. The event brought plenty of new talent to the forefront as we saw over 100 participants.

A few notable prospects included Anthony Santos (York HS, 2014), a two way player who displayed excellent bat speed and athleticism around the bag at first base. He also showed us an 85-87 mph fastball, touching 88 mph.

Two freshman pitchers really stood out. Anthony Holubecki (Kaneland HS, 2016) is a young up and coming two way player who showed a big upside on the mound.  The 6-foot-2, 175-pound right handed pitcher showcased an 83-85 mph fastball from a ¾ arm slot that produced arm side run with sink. Also Kyle Copeland (Jacobs HS, 2016) is a 5-foot-10, 145-pound lanky right handed pitcher who looks to have a high ceiling. While his secondary pitches still need polish, his fastball sat at an easy 80-82 mph from a ¾ arm slot.

Catcher David Craan (Whitney Young, 2015) stood out as a quick twitch athlete with a strong arm behind the plate. The young back stop recorded pop times of 2.04-2.19 with a 79 mph arm from the crouch.

Infielders Kevin Clifford (Naperville Central, 2015), Rylan Bannon (Joliet Catholic Academy, 2014), and Jake Milosch (St. Charles East HS, 2015) all showed excellent hands and athletic arms across the infield.

Justin Hoffman (Carbondale HS, 2014) and Keith Rogalla (Oak Park River Forest, 2014) both showed strong arms on the mound as both righties sat around 87 mph with Rogalla touching 88 mph.

Keep checking the website for further results on this showcase and more.
