Stock Report: 2015 SS Mitchell Boe

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Illinois

Today’s stock report highlights Mitchell Boe. Boe is a high level shortstop who has recently impressed at the Underclass Invitational. He was ranked in the top five middle infielders at the event and showed advanced range from his peers.

Boe is an athletic 5-foot-8, 154-pound middle infielder; although slightly undersized his game does not reflect it. He shows excellent hands defensively and moves well laterally. His above average range and quick footwork make him a high level shortstop at a young age. Boe’s arm plays well showing carry across the diamond (82 mph) while getting rid of it quickly with a clean exchange.

Offensively he hits from the left side out of a balanced setup using a slightly open stance. His smooth load of the hands coupled with short stride provides him the ability to show excellent bat control. Boe’s short bat path and line drive approach projects him as a high average type hitter.

Coach Jared Voss thinks highly of the young middle infielder and had this to say about Boe’s future, “Mitch is one of the top young prospects in our program. His combined commitment to the game and his baseball skills will give him the ability to be an excellent player at the next level.”

Boe will certainly have a bright future in a Hilltopper uniform for years to come.
