Houck should be watched closely at the Super 60 and through the spring as he has the potential to be a breakout player. He has a projectable, athletic frame at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds and pitches with little effort. At the Illinois Preseason All-State Showcase last February, Houck sat 86-87 mph with hard run on his fastball. His arm decelerates on his curveball, but it shows 11-to-5 shape and he can throw it for strikes. There were reports of him sitting 90-91 over the summer, but he didn’t get much exposure on the national circuit so the Super 60 could be a coming out party for him.
