Unsigned Senior Showcase Spotlight: Hinsdale Central's Ben Chapman

Ben ChapmanThe Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase at the Max in McCook, IL will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2014. The open showcase is geared towards all uncommitted 2015 graduates, and will include several area colleges in attendance. Nearly 70 schools were in attendance at last year’s event, and we expect a similar number at this year’s event.

Hinsdale Central’s Ben Chapman impressed back in February at the Preseason All-State Showcase, and has previously shown 86 mph velocity across the diamond from shortstop.

Here’s a look at Chapman’s scouting report from the PBR scouting staff:

Ben Chapman Scouting Report

6-foot, 150-pound shortstop, slender build, plenty of room for added strength. Defensively uses a short loose arm action, gets occasional carry, arm plays with easy arm strength, 79 mph across the diamond. Hands have a soft feel, fluid footwork. Runs a 7.25 in the 60. Offensively hits from a slightly open stance, short stride, minimal loading action. Generates bat speed with hands, quiet setup and short path repeats consistent contact. 76 mph exit velocity from the tee.
