Today’s unsigned senior spotlight highlights Grant HS first baseman Brent Spohr. Spohr is a big bodied first baseman who hits cleanup for a formidable Grant Bulldog team that features Missouri commit and No. 4 ranked prospect Jake Ring (2013) as well as Illinois State recruit Simeon Lucas (2014) who is ranked No. 30 in his class.

In a recent matchup against Wilmot HS (WI), Spohr recently broke the school record at Grant HS for career doubles with 29.Brent Spohr

Spohr is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound first baseman. At our Unsigned Senior Showcase in October, Spohr's arm showed accuracy to his target with some carry at 79 mph from first base, an above average and playable arm for his position. His hands work well around the bag and plays through the ball well. He also showed nimble footwork with an awareness for the bag.

Offensively, Spohr hits from a balanced set up using a short stride and displayed some gap to gap tendencies. He showed some pop in his bat as well, recording exit speeds up to 85 mph from the tee.

In his recent double header against Wilmot HS, Spohr showed excellent pop. His ball showed carry even when missing the barrel. The senior first baseman has the potential to be a formidable middle of the lineup run producer at the next level.
