Updated Class of 2015 Player Rankings

By Sean Duncan

It’s still early, but the Class of 2015 is shaping up to be another strong crop of prospects in Illinois. The class features several high-end power arms, in addition to some exciting athletic position players.

What’s unusual about this class is many of its highest-end prospects are from schools not especially known for producing players. In fact, the new No. 1-ranked player, SS Charlie Donovan, hails from Westmont HS, a small school in the Western suburbs of Chicago that has never had a player ranked since 2005.

Donovan, who’s already verbally committed to Michigan, edged out RHP Joe Uvelli (Elmwood Park HS), C/RHP/OF Nick Dalesandro (Joliet Catholic Academy HS), and RHP Trent Johnson (Metamora HS).

The biggest riser in the class is 6-foot-3 RHP Tyler Lass (Belvidere HS), who recently impressed at a PBR Pitcher’s Showcase with his heavy 86-88 mph fastball. 3B/OF Brendan Spillane (Wheeling HS), SS Cole Daily (Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin HS), LHP Kyle Ostrowski, RHP Keegan McHood (Argenta-Oreana HS), OF Josh Stowers (Mt. Carmel HS), RHP Jeremy Orbik (Homewood-Flossmoor HS), INF Willy Bourbon (Stevenson HS), RHP Steven Skolarz (Lincoln-Way West HS) and OF Will Corn (Kirkland-Hiawatha HS) are all impressive looking prospects, among several others.

Other significant risers include RHP Jake Esp (Marmion HS), RHP Brad Parchutz (Marian Central Catholic HS), RHP Cal Jarrett (Dixon HS) and SS/RHP Reid Birlingmair (Normal West HS).
