Updated Illinois Power 25 Team Rankings

This is the third installment of the Illinois Power 25 Team Rankings. Weather cooperated this week throughout the state of Illinois. High schools took advantage of it, playing multiple games and a lot of double headers took place on Saturday.  Jacobs (11-1) went 4-0 on the week and is the new No. 1 in the Power 25. Below is a breakdown of the what happened this past week.

Climbing

+ Jacobs (11-1) – Jacobs has been a steady climber in the Power 25 and now sits atop the list at No. 1. Jacobs went 4-0 on the week with wins over Prairie Ridge, Hampshire, Barrington and Grayslake North. Early in the season the Golden Eagles beat Plainfield North the No. 1 team in the Power 25 at the time.

+ O’Fallon (16-3) – Went 4-0 on the week. Beat No. 6 Edwardsville 12-2 on Thursday. Also, had wins over Eureka (MO), Granite City and Highland.

+ Providence (12-1) – Jumped three spots after going 6-0 on the week. Victories over Lincoln-Way East, Montini and Marist to name a few.

+ Sandburg (9-0) – Another steady climber in the Power 25, jumped four spots after a 4-0 week. The Eagles remain undefeated after victories over Marist, Lincoln-Way Central and two from Joliet Central.

+ Lincoln-Way North (11-3) – Had some tough losses early in the season but are 8-1 since the first week of the Power 25 Rankings update. Had a perfect 4-0 week and climbed five spots. They took two from Bradley-Bourbonnais and won 9-8 over Homewood-Flossmoor.

+ Normal Community (13-2) – Climbed nine spots this week. Swept a double header over No. 18 Champaign Central 1-0 and 11-5. Also, beat Normal University 6-2 to go a perfect 3-0 on the week.

+ Waterloo (11-3) – Jumped five spots this week. Went a perfect 5-0 on the week. The pitching staff allowed a minuscule two runs over the five games.
 
Sinking

+ St. Rita (13-2) – Dropped to the No. 5 spot in the Power 25 this week after a 6-1 loss to Montini.

+ Edwardsville (14-4) – Slipped four spots after a 12-2 loss to O’Fallon on Thursday.

+ Oak Park (8-3) – Fell six spots. Split a double header with Lyons on Saturday. Beat Hinsdale Central 3-1.

+ Nazareth (10-2) – Lost their first two games of the season this week. Lost 8-7 with Buffalo Grove and split with St. Viator. Now No. 18.

+ Alton (13-5) – Went 3-2 on the week. Lost to Carlyle 7-4 and Belleville West 7-1.

+ Plainfield South (10-4) – 2-2 on the week. Lost 2-of-3 to Plainfield East.

New to the Top 25

+ No. 16 St. Francis (12-1) – Went 5-0 on the week. Wins over Fenwick 4-3, De La Salle 5-3 and St. Ignatius 7-6 to name a few.

+ No. 19 Hinsdale South (14-2) – Five wins on the week get Hinsdale South in the Power 25 for the first time. 4-3 and 3-1 wins over Downer Grove South highlighted the week. Also, did not allow a run in two victories against Addison Trail.

+ No. 24 Prospect (9-1) – Two wins against Rolling Meadows this week and a 4-0 victory over New Trier this week. Key wins on the year include Cary-Grove, Andrew, Huntley, Glenbard East, Bartlett and St. Charles East.
