St. Laurence remains at the top of the Power 25 in the sixth installment of the 2017 season. Libertyville (20-6) made the biggest move of the week, now sitting at No. 7, after a sweep of Mundelein who was No. 2 at the time.

Below is a breakdown of the what happened over the past week.

CLIMBING

+ St. Charles North (23-2) - Climbed to No. 3 in the Power 25 after a 5-0 week. Outscored opponents 57-6 on the impressive week.

+ Brother Rice (21-6) - The Crusaders went 4-0 on the week and have won 17 of their last 18 games. This past week they swept a two-game set against Providence and knocked off St. Rita 8-5 and Marmion 8-1.

+ Plainfield North (20-6) - Went 4-0 on the week and the pitching staff only gave up four runs, including two shutouts.  

+ Sacred Heart-Griffin (20-4) - The Cyclones went 4-0 on the week and now sit at No. 16 in the Power 25. The perfect week included two wins against Collinsville and Pleasant Plains.  

SINKING

+ Mundelein (22-4) - Swept by Libertyville in three highly contested games. Went 1-3 on the week and now sit at No. 10.

+ McHenry (16-7) - Dropped to No. 19 after a 3-2 week. Lost to Crystal Lake Central 9-2 and Huntley 5-4. The Warriors also swept a two-game set against Dundee-Crown.

+ Oswego East (23-4) - Dropped three spots after a 2-2 week. The Wolves split a two-game set against Oswego and lost to No. 12 Plainfield North 1-0.

NEW TO THE TOP 25

+ Libertyville (20-6) - The only new team to the Power 25 in this week’s update. The Wildcats went 4-0 on the week including an impressive three game sweep of then No. 2 Mundelein. Libertyville also knocked off Hoffman Estates 5-4.
