2014 Tournament Of Stars Preview

By Nathan Rode

USA Baseball’s Tournament of Stars kicked off Tuesday with an evaluation day for scouts. The event is held to help Team USA put together a final roster for the 18U National Team, which will travel to the COPABE Pan American Championships later this summer. In the past, the TOS has seen eight teams represent different national organizations, but there’s a different spin for 2014 with the field being reduced to six teams and taking on patriotic names.

Games will take place Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday with evaluation days on Tuesday and Friday. Rosters can be found on the schedule page for the event. Below are the most up-to-date rosters provided by USA Baseball with a few notes to digest about players that will be in attendance this week.

BRAVE: This event typically has the best players from the current draft class, but a few underclassmen get sprinkled in and two of the better ones are on the Brave in OF Seth Beer (Lambert HS, GA) and RHP Austin Bergner (West Orange HS, FL). Beer handles the bat from the left side while Bergner has a very projectable frame with long limbs and a loose arm. They are both currently uncommitted.
