OUTLOok

Head Coach Doug Nelson and the Hanover Central Wildcats return 7 positional starters and six pitchers from last year's 22-6 team.  The Wildcats finished 2014 as the Greater South Shore conference champions with a 15-1 record.  They ended last season with an opening round sectional loss to eventual 3A State Champ Andrean.  With many players returning, Nelson believes his team should contend for both conference and post-season titles this spring.  The Wildcats are led by senior catcher Jesse Wilkening, a Nebraska signee, who hit an impressive .594 with 10 HR and 57 RBI last spring.  On the mound Hanover Central is led by senior southpaw Riley Welch.  Welch finished his Junior campaign 4-2 with 50 Ks in 36.1 IP and also hit .444 with 10 2B.  Another arm the Wildcats will rely on is senior RHP Daniel Balich.  Balich went 8-1 with 68 Ks in 46.1 IP last season and also was a big contributor offensively hitting .418 with 24 RBI.  Two underclassmen Nelson will look to for contributions is Junior OF Logan Evenhouse (.341 BA) and sophomore RHP/OF Dylan Knutsen (.307 BA).
