Greensburg, IN---The Greensburg Pirates beat the Batesville Bulldogs 4-0 Monday evening behind Tyler Burcham’s 10 strikeouts in six innings pitched.  The senior lefty and Parkland commit dominated throughout the game throwing six shutout innings while allowing just three hits and a walk.  Burcham sat 78-82 mph with his fastball and showcased a devastating breaking ball at 68-69 that kept the Bulldogs’ hitters off balance all night.

Greensburg junior and Indiana University commit Macy Holdsworth scored the first run of the game in the third inning to give the Pirates the early lead.  Greensburg would add two more runs in the bottom half of the fourth and another in sixth to take the commanding four run lead.

Batesville’s offense never seemed to get going as they totaled just three hits on the evening and were unable to put a run across the plate.

Bryan Hoeing, the No. 2 ranked prospect in Indiana’s 2015 class, got the start Batesville.  The 6-foot-6 right-handed pitcher was impressive throughout the night.  Hoeing was 87-90 mph in his first inning of work, and sat 86-88 mph in his last five innings on the mound.  The sophomore pitcher threw a nasty breaking ball at 74-78 mph that appears to be a plus pitch at any level.  Hoeing allowed five hits and four runs, though just two of the runs were earned.  The Bulldogs’ defense struggled most of the night, committing five errors.
